Hi
I called singtel and ask if they can support TDD phones.
I'm not sure if they understood what is that but they told me singtel accepts.
I'm quite confused as read online Singapore only supports FDD.
Does anyone has first hand experience on this?

Thanks for reading.

All three telcos support FDD LTE networks.

Phones that support TDD LTE networks (e.g. those phones you buy from China, fyi, the telcos use TDD), can be used here BUT no 4G connectivity.

Thanks swgj86
Yes I wanted to get a mi 4 fdd-lte.
But the seller send me a TDD version sealed. I didn't want to open and try as I'm afraid he might not accept if I wanted to refund.
He showed me a screenshot of his m1 4g connectivity on the handset.
I'm quite confused whether to keep it or not.

I don't know, but it seems like a scam.

I don't think TDD model can connect to the 4G networks in SG.

Safer bet is to ask for a refund.

Tdd is on trial here. Not commercial deployment. Some China hp does support tdd and fdd in single chip. That explain Why you see it support 4g here.
yep. thanks for the info. went to check IDA website.

TDD is used for trials and a short term basis only.

In other words, hAiZzZ86, i suggest you ask for a refund. no point using Mi 4 on 3G only unless you are on 3G plans.

Hi thank you all for the help!
Seller refused to reply me till I've raised a dispute in paypal.
Then now telling me that he has a fdd set to exchange with me. However request me to close the case first.
Seller very fishy, told him we will do it in front of each other (exchange and I'll close case) but he refused.
Now I'll let paypal handle the case.

Buying on web always has this type of risk.

Yeah unlucky to have met such seller.
I don't understand what's wrong to meet up and settle it.
Keep hiding even request me to pay first then send his courier to deliver the item. Then now this happen. If cash on delivery I would have pointed it out immediately. Even the courier says he can't do anything about it.

Anyway thanks for all the information!

Just an update from M1.
A technical department followed up with my enquires.
The ans is that TDD-LTE is not supported by them.
Quite surprise by their customer service, I wasn't even their customer! Awesome! Will port over soon since their plan has the most discount with my corporate plan!

I read about this. Confirmed all three telcos only support FDD here. You will need to have FDD or FDD+TDD on the 4G chip in your phone to use 4G data. Otherwise you will be limited to 3G speeds (on TDD-only chip).

Don't just port over just bcos they give most discount.

You really gotta watch for the coverage in the area u working or living.

Having lotsa discount with a crap coverage is mot worth the deal

Yup, coverage before cost, as always. YMMV.

Thanks for the reply!
Called M1 customer support.
Asked them if they support TDD. Transferred me at least 3 times. In the end the last one told me as long as my phone supports LTE, it can connect to M1 4G.
So not sure if they have really changed their technology.

also doubt that the Mi 4 model supports both FDD/TDD.

Why your next 4G phone should have FDD-LTE and TDD-LTE - CNET

TDD is on trial and I have a trial Mi4i set (apparently, should be the official local model sold directly from Xiaomi store).

Will check again when I pass by the trial area.
