Telco phone trade in

Recently telcos offer 2G phone trade in deals.

Do they accept any 2G GSM dumb phone? Do they reject any phone?

Has anyone tried?

I think basic is can turn on and operational. Charger should have too. Should be looking decent too, not some fugly paint chip etc.
