Oh that was referring to the top shorted stock in absolute $ terms. Short interest by float is actually at one year lows - likely due to the 2020 squeeze.
I thought so. I seen a chart of that somewhere

Hmm he didn't outright short though, he bought puts. Also, the headlines regarding his $500mil+ bet are misleading as that refers to the value of underlying shares. No one knows his strikes and premiums paid, which of course, is tiny in comparison.

Yep, am aware it is puts. It seems to be his biggest position in his portfolio.
He made good points.

Tesla carbon credits is not gonna help them much going forward since his clients will not need them anymore. Without it, Tesla may not profit.

Not much short interest left to kill compared to before, lots of competition are coming in and Tesla is overvalued.

But, Tesla is a cult stock, so anything goes.

Lol. Well from a price to sales and price to earning view, it is very highly priced.
But this is Tesla, it can defy valuation.
It may just go to a 1000 next or 200.

The biggest issue with Tesla is a tech company and people with only financial background can never get it right.
Any monkey who see price to sale ratio and price to earning can remark , Tesla stock is highly price, not entirely wrong but not seeing the point.

Tesla's fundamental for me is through their tech and manufacturing. I understand engineering , I been in the field for years. I look at patents, manufacturing, white papers and benchmarking reports. Just let you know I spend a few Ks of money on benchmarking reports on model Y alone and no I wont be sharing as it got watermark with my name on it.

Think of a strategy video game like say command and conquer. Strategy , you can go high or go wide. High as in teching up, in the early stage you have few units but once you reach the next level your production facilities will be higher tier and produce higher tier units that will do well but leave you vulnerable in early game. Old car companies (wide) have lot of low tier units.. so yea they produce millions of vehicles that are going to be obsolete as electric cars are already outperforming them with lower maintenance and soon it be lower price as well. Old car companies are sitting on aging soon to be obsolete assets.

And I haven't even touch on the energy part of Tesla. All these are scaling rapidly in coming years. Go read Tony Seba 's Clean Disruption of Energy and Transportation book. Be more knowledgeable is how you win in market.

Leave you with a quote from legendary investor Peter Lynch
“Understand the nature of the companies you own and the specific reasons for holding the stock. (“It is really going up!” doesn’t count.)”

Dude, even as a tech company, their valuation is off the charts lol.
This is basic valuation fundamentals, not about financial background.

As a cult stock, it makes sense. It has a cult valuation.

Volkswagen, GM, BMW, ford, Toyota, Nio, etc coming in with electric cars too.
These are not small or weak competitors.

Tesla is only profitable basis selling carbon credits. That's gonna be a thing of the past and competition is coming in. I don't think the price reflects that yet and with Tesla, anything goes.

Production may be limited due to chip shortages for the next 6 months but the competitors are here now.

Well, I currently have no position in tesla anyways but to each his own I suppose.

It is off its 900 ath.
If one were to short, should juz be a small put option since this is a cult stock, like Burry did.

Michael burry did call the 2009 subprime crisis. Only time will tell if he is right this time I suppose :)

Looks like will rebound to 650-700 range first, if it is gonna go down.
