Ever since Elon Musk recently announced that Tesla's robotaxi will be unveiled in August, onlookers have wondered what it will be like.

Now we know at least one thing about it. Well, maybe.

During Tesla's earnings call on Tuesday, Musk called the robotaxi "Cybercab."

"And as we've announced we'll be showcasing our purpose-built robotaxi, or Cybercab, in August," Musk said on the call.

Tesla appears to be rallying in the post market after the poor earnings release. :ROFLMAO:

In the longer term, Tesla will have to find something else to do rather than EV much like Amazon moved beyond being just an ecommerce store.

His latest project to convert X into something like Tencent seems to be falling flat. Still he is Trump's biggest billionare backer. Who knows what might happen if Trump wins in Novermber?

If you want an ouside bet on someone who can monetise AI, he is probably your best dark horse. He was at ground zero for Chatgpt and has the track record of bringing to maket product no one can even dream of. In many ways he is like Steve Jobs who had his fair share of dud Apple products before he unveiled the Iphone and Ipad.

And finally of course you have SpaceX and Starlink. If things spiral out of control with China, these could be worth billions. SpaceX is the only third party vendor with proven launch vechicles that can weaponise space. If things get to stage where undersea cables that carry the world's Internet traffic are no longer secure, Starlink is the only alternative that can keep communications going.

The market has priced all of this and more into Tesla's stock price. For the stock price to "crash below BABA", Musk will have to either pass on or go into retirement like Bezos and Jack Ma.

I dun think the success of SpaceX has anything to do with Tesla, Musk surely will not put his life long goal of going to mars at risk by using SpaceX to save Tesla. AI and FSD are likely in the stock's price now, one of his believers called it a "religion", you just have to believe in his ability to deliver. This is why he is able to keep talking about FSD for 10 years without delivering FSD. :ROFLMAO:

The problem with him is that because of his eccentricities, many people look down on him. Many people have bet against him and lost huge sums of money doing so. This is to the extent that people are now too scared to write him off.

Just prior to this earnings call, they tactically concluded an order for 85,000 Nividia H100 chips. Apparently they paid a premium for the chips given the shortage. The amount of AI computing power this yields is incredible. Other than solving FSD, who knows what else he is going to use that computing power to do.

Nvidia is looking they are in for another good quarter given that people are just throwing bags of money at them for their product.

If you're handsome / rich / powerful , you're eccentric, genius, unconventional.
If you're fugly / poor / weak sauce, you're just....crazy.

Another eccentric CEO? Alex Karp.

China already has autonomous taxis for several years...

I am an early investor of Tesla. I am sipping my red wine when I suddenly spill it after listening to some of the dumb comments my friends made.

(1) some told me in 2021 that it is game over for Tesla as Apple now gg to make car. 2025 suddenly see Apple killing their car project.

(2) after Apple car game over, the narration becomes BYD, simi xiaomi will kill Tesla. I really suspect the intelligence of these ppl. BYD has been in the market for so long. Did they kill Toyota? Toyota is an ah Pek car company with so many dinosaur Japanese inside. I don’t think BYD can even compete convincingly with them

(3) Of course Telsa has no AI. Tesla is a 1930 car with nothing. No navigation, no self driving, no camera, image recognition etc. really funny

(4) And lastly, oh…BYD got battery, China got metal, electronics etc. Tesla can’t fight with them. Ya ya. Then Malaysia and Indonesia got so much natural resources: ppl in Singapore got no resource. Don’t even have anything so Singaporeans mostly eating tree bark. Or they paying 10x for an egg. $50 for a packet of chicken rice

Strangely the same group of ppl tell me Meta is game over because of Tik Tok and Nvidia is game over because their PE is too high. And Google is late in the AI game because ChatGPT is better. Now I wonder whether these ppl live in a cave without internet.
Song bo? Where is the $100? Within 5 days from $148 to $198. Wooooooooo! 😂 Voting machine voting machine

https://www.reuters.com/business/au...utors-focus-securities-wire-fraud-2024-05-08/

In Tesla Autopilot probe, US prosecutors focus on securities, wire fraud

U.S. prosecutors are examining whether Tesla (TSLA) committed securities or wire fraud by misleading investors and consumers about its electric vehicles’ self-driving capabilities, three people familiar with the matter told Reuters.
Tesla’s Autopilot and Full Self-Driving systems assist with steering, braking and lane changes - but are not fully autonomous. While Tesla has warned drivers to stay ready to take over driving, the Justice Department is examining other statements by Tesla and Chief Executive Elon Musk suggesting its cars can drive themselves.

U.S. regulators have separately investigated hundreds of crashes, including fatal ones, that have occurred in Teslas with Autopilot engaged, resulting in a mass recall by the automaker.
Reuters exclusively reported the U.S. criminal investigation into Tesla in October 2022, and is now the first to report the specific criminal liability federal prosecutors are examining.
Investigators are exploring whether Tesla committed wire fraud, which involves deception in interstate communications, by misleading consumers about its driver-assistance systems, the sources said. They are also examining whether Tesla committed securities fraud by deceiving investors, two of the sources said.

The Securities and Exchange Commission is also investigating Tesla’s representations about driver-assistance systems to investors, one of the people said. The SEC declined to comment.
