Testing AMD's old coolers on Ryzen 71700

Just how bad or good in comparison?
I have 3 coolers lined up, 2 FM2 coolers (You'll see why later) and a old AM3+ cooler with a San Ace 92mm fan ziptied onto it

First off :

Probably from a 7850k? Doesn't matter. They are all roughly the same more or less

FM2 cooler modified with a fantastically thick 70mm (Delta AFC0712DE) on top

Results?
Unexpected or expected? I left my Ryzen 7 1700 at stock which 3.2GHz and I didn't bother checking voltage because... does it really matter to compare coolers?

All coolers at performed at 31C ambient.
Wraith Spire is 56c while running at 1500rpm. Very slow I know but it somehow did it.
The other coolers did not do so well...
The FM2 stock cooler did 59c at 3000rpm, I was honestly going deaf

Modified FM2 stock cooler 61c for some reason ... I checked the thermal paste spread and it is just as good as the first run. The THICK fan is running at 2300rpm. Raising fan speed doesn't help and by the time you reach 3000rpm it is well and clearly louder than the stock fan

The modified AM3+ cooler hits the same temperature as the second cooler but it runs a lot quieter. It was running at 1500rpm and raising fan speed did little to lower temperatures...

Note : The Wraith Max is actually larger than the AM3+ cooler in every dimension not just the fan size alone

In the end, your guess is as good as mine. Maybe overclocking will distance the coolers but I have my doubts as the wraith spire actually has a small vapor chamber (Vapor chambers are basically big heatpipes anyway)
Either the old coolers were really crap or the new coolers are amazing. Anyway, Wraith Max can achieve a better temperature but at the result of more noise compared to the Spire.
Hyper 212 LED Turbo can achieve a better temperature than either but it is also a lot larger and louder so...
If you want a aftermarket cooler for your AM4 Ryzen get a 240 AIO (like CoolerMaster MasterLiquid Pro 240 or Masterliquid 240) or a Phanteks TC14PE.
Yep, phanteks has AM4 mounts now in the box at least when you buy them but unfortunately afaik Corbell doesn't bring it in as I write

And no, can't hear the fan from where I sit/roll on bed

I'll just take it easy (the hunt for a decent low profile air cooler) until Zen+ forces me to OC my CPUs bah

I didn't need 100% rpm O.O

But yeah, it's really quiet at 100%.

Thermalright got AM4 bracket now. http://thermalright.com/product/axp-100h-muscle/ install 100h muscle give your rig some muscles

I can OC the 1700 to 3.8ghz on the wraith spire so any third party coolers also don't give me much tangible upgrade. Now waiting for my Captain bracket for my captain AIO

But you on atx wor need low profile cooler?
