:( why 810 core again on the new Z5
:(:(:(

Because there is no other alternative chip on the market right now?
Not that Sony wants people to complain about cheap mediatek chip on the flagship phone.

Specs comparison. processor shld be octacore though

Other than the processor, don't think that the display type and Wi-Fi are accurate. Should be IPS and AC.

it could also due to cost issues. electronic companies commit to one another a MOQ for per year/or more years for a price per chip. or maybe Snapdragon 810 sold to Sony at much lower price and up to Sony to find ways to lower the temperature? those working as purchasers in the electronic industries should be familiar.

Rightly so. Just look at this

http://www.phonearena.com/news/Powe...l-smartphones-currently-on-the-market_id73040

This test shows that even if the Z3C/Z3/S6 Active/S6edge plus/S6edge/Note5 has the same 1810mAh size battery as the iPhone 6, they will still beat the iPhone 6 on battery life. What is shocking is that all has much larger screens and much higher resolutions(bar Z3c), more processor cores with higher clock speeds and much more RAM. And Android always has more thing running in the background and widgets too.

So where is the so-called iOS optimization?

Apple deserves to be singled out for criticism because they charge the highest price for less hardware and are so proud and arrogant that they feel they can just do whatever they want and consumers will still bite.

I guess Sony do have contract to use Qualcomm chips to a certain degree, since they are also trying out mediatek chips for their mid class phones.

Last time they shown dual heat pipes in the teardown of the Z5, that should have considerate improvement to the heat issues of S810.

At least we see Sony putting effort to tame the chip which is a good thing.
Unlike some makers simply turning to inferior options (S808), as those makers probably do not have the technology to help themselves

It will be a challenge to convince fruity users though. :D

I believe mediatek is not able to support 4k resolution . So if Sony want to come up with 3 Z5s and make one of them 4k display ,consumers will likely not able to handle the fact that only mediatek power the Z5 and the compact , and the Z5 premium getting the snapdragon 810. Therefore all will use the same processors . Snapdragon 820 and helio X20 are not out this season, the next best solution will definitely be 810.

The second point will be benchmark score of different SOC. Again they will compare between mediatek and snapdragon , and will even make noise if the cheaper mediatek out powers the snapdragon found inside the Z5 premium .

Thank Sony for creating solution to the hot chip!

Z3+ or Z4 which confusing name Sony used, barely last a day with normal use, a big step back from Z2 and Z3.

Sony should not throw stones at their own glass window

My Z3+ lasts more than a day with normal use, so I don't know what you're talking about. :vijayadmin:

It really depends on individual usage.

I personally knew some busy people who bought smartphones just for calling and texting, not much time for games and internet.
And there are hardly any non-smartphone choices for these type of people.

It is possible to achieve two or more days of battery life, since most of the time it is on standby.

Actually... how many buy this phone and go use under water??? I know a couple does but 95% of the people here buy and worry about this when they never let their phone come close to even a tub of water??

This news went off a few days back and people just " OMG now i cant use under water " but in the first place... they dun even know will they. lol

Been able to use this phone during rainy days is more than enough for me and not under water.
