You have underestimated Trump. The delay of certain tariffs to Dec 15th is not a sign of chickening out. Also he has tied Hong Kong's matter together with trade tariffs.

You go and find out what bills the House (Pelosi) and Senate (McConnell, Rubio) is tabling now to go after China.

I realized one shitty thing

When IWDA/VWRA/EIMI is down, USD is up and away - so even the absolute price of these ETFs are cheaper, it’s not really cause you need more SGD to buy at that same USD price. It balances out somewhat !

Actually its the other way round. When USD appreciates (read USD Index) as a result of safe haven trade, most asset classes depreciate. In the case of above funds, its a double whammy because its not just the underlying stocks but also the underlying currencies that depreciate.

If you are long USD then the right approach would be to go long an appreciating USD denominated asset.

Also, history shows that when USD index appreciates, USD tends to appreciate against most currencies irrespective of whether the other currency belongs to a current account surplus nation or current account deficit nation. Its USD against the rest of the world currencies.

By right there should be a mild ejaculation of s&p today minimally around 1% at least. Nope, it's mild negative now. This is highly unusual. I agree with your subscription though, hence I uvxy on alternate days.

I think we should be thankful that USA and china are on vastly different timezones. So when 1 tweets, the other is sleeping and won't retaliate. Imagine same time zone, one tweet 10% tariff, then china next hour broadcast yuan devaluation, then yellow hair tweets currency manipulator, next hour china tweets slamming of the label and proceeds to stop agricultural purchase until USA drops 10% tariff.

I think like that s&p500 drop 5% minimum.
