I have equus belt to replace my Giorgio Armani belt. It was a good experience to purchase from them.Hi,
Just wondering if anyone has ever used aftermarket straps (like those from equus) with the buckles from Ferragamo, etc.?
Thinking equus leather should be higher quality than ferragamo right?
I have equus belt to replace my Giorgio Armani belt. It was a good experience to purchase from them.
But upon receiving the goods I felt that the leather was inferior to my Giorgio Armani and way inferior to my Dior leather belt.
But the customization choice (color of the belt), experience and learning something from them worth a purchase.
Sent from Mitsubishi Aircon using GAGT
The top grain leather that is used is from a fantastic english tannery and equus's craftmanship is top notch.
How did you judge the inferiority?
Based on the feel and the finishing.
Withhold your judgment on Equus just yet. I have a feeling that as you put both belts through their paces, Equus belt will shine through WAY brighter than any big brands out there. As someone above has already mentioned, the leather they use is top-class, and their craftsmanship is fantastic.
My guess is that you are used to what "good" leather should feel like, but there are many leather out there which are much better but have a different feel to it. Bridle leather (the kind that Equus uses) is slightly waxy to the touch and not as smooth as something like calf leather. But that does not mean it is worse.
TLDR: Your opinions might change as you use the belts more. Equus is as good as money can buy.
I partially agree with what you said, but not entirely.
I admit that when comes to leather good, I am not the most educated when comes to the smallest detail and quality that differentiate better what you deem as your "good" leather, bridle leather and/or high quality calf leather. As a general consumer, at least for me, the feel, the look and the overall finishing determine how I feel with my purchase of equus leather products.
But also, experience defer from person to person, you might be fortunate to get a batch with a good finishing and all, but for me, the end quality leaves me to desire for more.
The leather belt I got was flimsy, I would say soft and supple, but mine was flimsy and the edging was inconsistent.
But all in all, I do believe equus does provide very good price for quality ratio.
Do you have a picture of the belt that you got from Equus? I'm quite curious to see what inconsistent edging from them looks like.
new hoot from gf to me for today!
