warhunter: Your big reaction seems abit uncalled for especially if you say you're not jiasheng (the optometrist). Sounds to me like you are, but let's not get into that. As i told him, the reason why i copied down the prescription is so i can compare it against other shops i had my eye checked at. I told him (or you) this.

I owe him (or you) an apology since i told him i'd be back on saturday, when i didn't. Well, i had planned to go back, after i had my eyes checked in different places - which i did, on saturday. If the other place wasn't good i would have went back to jiasheng. But you know what, this other shop could offer me a much better deal, with better customer service to boot, so i took my money there. If you're jiasheng, then i apologize for not keeping my word. If you're not, then please help me convey this msg to him.

he didnt even ask abt contact lenses.. he ask for prices of spectacle lenses, copied in a notebook and left. OPTOMS BEWARE!!!

actually in other countries they will charge for the eye check first.

not like in sg, they check their eyes for u then u decide whether to buy or not.

Gimme a break, "damn cheap" eh? Such vile words from the dude who doesn't even know what happened at all - and if you think what warhunter said was the absolute truth, you're naive. I didn't want to ruin his "friend's" optical shop name, that's why i didn't go into details :)

I dont see the need for me to hide my identity. I am not jia sheng for sure. I've participated in lots of MOs and made loads of comments in HWZ. My real identity can be so easily found so what more do I have to prove?

I'm just a person who trusts that professional services should be paid for. I have mutual trust between my own optometrist, dentist and even GP.
Do you go to doctor A for a health check and walk away to doctor B to consider which guy gives a better check, then choose which doctor to pay for?

Its just that this is Singapore. No one cares about their health anyway.

2cents worth.

You dont owe me an apology.

I just want to make a stand. We optometrists are not free labourers, we are healthcare providers if you didn't realise. I just find it unfair for my profession as this is happening all the time (not just you). So no worries. I'll let him know you're not gg back.

haha actually I do charge for eyechecks if they decide not to buy, when i was working 2 months back. Most would be willing to pay. I only hold payments for long time patients of the place i was working at.

Singaporeans wont even buy glasses/contact lenses if discounts are not given la. Equilvalent to going to a pharmacist and ask for bargains for drugs.

Paying for consultation won't work in Singapore. Too cheap a country, to pay for eye care services. Thats why 90% of optical shops in Singapore refuse to give FULL EYE CHECKS.

What you are getting at optical shops is just your refractive error. Nothing is checked on your ocular history, systemic/medical history, anterior eye health, posterior eye health, visual function, visual field mapping, eye pressure, etc. (these tests are the bare minimum that needs to be performed).

To be in a country where the rates of eye diseases is on the high side, its at their own disadvantage. Late detection = poorer prognosis (recovery).

Pay for services? yes or no? you people decide. LOL

when I have my own practise, I'll let you know for sure. No worries. I accept any patients.

to be frank, if you give your word to do something, you should carry it out 100% of the time, no exceptions. Whats the point of giving your word if you end up not carrying it out? :s11:

in this case, wouldnt you agree, your word is as good as 'useless'?

actually full eye check no optical shops will do. you can find optometrist at medical centers and hospitals also. they charge 60-90 depend on location. for a cheap deal. go to training institutes like Singapore Polytechnic for just $5 bucks u get a full check. But checks will take longer than those outside because their lecturer have to double check.

Yes , everytime you open the cap.

Dun really need to change the solution much if it is left capped on. However if you are paranoid, change every 7-14 days.

Ok thanks. Another question, let's say I opened up a new monthly contact lens to use. Throughout the month, I only used about say 7days. Do I use a new one or continue with it?

but had a bad experience after day 3..
at night when was trying to remove the lenses,i realised its STUCK to my eyeballs!
very uncomfortable and very hard to take out..ended up have to "soak" my eyes in water..

Soaking your eyes inside tap water? That's sounds very bad to the eyes. I thought just apply some eye drop if one have trouble removing their CL?
