Wanted to get a pair of jeans so went to levi's to try. It was horrible. Their 501 model is supposedly mid rise but felt still felt low for me.

I then went to reddit to looked up recommendations and 13mwz wrangler popped up. Got a pair from amazon and have been wearing them at home to break them in. These really do sit at your waist.
Mid rise is below navel button. High rise is above navel button, if it sits on your waist, then the rise is high rise, not mid rise.

With the tarrifs, Gustin will not be value for money anymore. Not sure if Cone mills can produce for the entire US market, but Japanese denim, Italian denim, southeast asia denim, Chinese denim and turkey denim make up 90% of the market now

Gustin will lose out to brands like Naked and Famous which are made in Canada and no tarriffs on other countries

the cutting for vintage and normal , same as last last time ?
cmi liao, levis nowadays the quality not very good as compared to last time.
if you not wearing everyday then just get a cheap jeans will do.

I bought like 6-8 pairs of levis jeans during 11.11, end up returning back 3-4 cause i dont like the quality.

i wear jeans everyday thats why i cannot go for cheap quality jeans

Have to know Levi's and Levis Vintage Collection are different things. The later are collectors level are not cheap and of course different quality too.

I think 80% of japanese jeans brands have slim cut and what I like is the thigh can be 30,30.5,31.

In fact, japanese jeans are slimmer than European brands due to the lower bmi of japanese men.
But the interesting thing is that the Japanese prefer straight cut more than slim fit. You can see that they pay more attention to details for their straight cuts, mainly due to their tribute to vintage.

Maybe because I don't normally buy straight cut, I buy slim straight or slim tapered, but I don't think straight cuts have more details. For e.g momotaro 10th anniversary, 15anniversary, many of the anniversary or special edition of jeans that are upgraded from normal common series are released in slim or tapered cuts.

To be fair, myself also have went from slim to tapered cut too. But I realized with age, I wish to explore straight cut because slim or tapered are tough to wear daily.

Really depends on how thick your legs are. I have slim legs.

Slim or tapered are easier to fade for raw jeans.

Straight is cooler on hot days due to less friction with skin.

just bought selvedge jeans from uniqlo
going to wear it everyday to work/go out and see how the fades are
I have a black pair with button fly bought years ago. Black denim has always been known to be hard to fade. But to be fair to Uniqlo, it does fade with a lot alot of patience. I have burst the crotch and back pocket, hems too.

I bought this yesterday, not a fan of black denim. black denim looks like formal pants.

Uniqlo selvedge quite comfortable though. i like the rough material. see if i can make till like this
