Ok... I have the spark, read the manuals, remote and batteries charge :s12:, but the spark is grounded.

I can’t activate the spark; the app can’t read the QR code despite trying numerous times. Sometimes, it managed to read but can’t connect to the device :s22:.

Going to research online the possible causes and going to try tonight again.

Have to be patience. Did u follow the manuals or YouTube instructions? I did both and, initially the wifi link between phone and rc and the numerous updates took a while till batt dropped by half... Maybe updates not done yet?

If lazada got price war with shopee, it should be less than 639? It was 639 just a few weeks ago on shopee

Sorry I removed the link cos I could not post with the link in the quote... Strange

I followed the manual and watched the youtube tutorials prior to and after getting the spark.

Did some research online and read that with the combo package, the remote and spark are already linked at factory before shipped. Hence, I can't connect and activate spark via my handphone. Have to connect the handphone to the remote first and activate.

Alternatively, have to reset the wifi setting to erase the link between the spark and the remote, then can connect directly to the handphone.

Shall try connecting the handphone to the remote first and see how it goes. Hopefully, I don't mess up the firmware and brick it :s13:

I initially had problems trying to link my phone with the rc too; I tried to link the drone with phone first, and that was smooth but updates took a while. Then I tried to link phone to rc, and that took me quite a while. For some unknown reasons the phone simply could not find the damn rc wifi. Resorted to turning off the drone completely, and after a short while, the phone finally picked up rc wifi! Phew... And what followed was more rc updates. I think the delay could be that there was too many wifi signal at my workplace or xperia needs time to find the rc wifi... Will test flight today... it was left at workplace or spark will have sparked a quarrel with wife :)

Finally resolved the wifi issue.

As pointed out, need to have the remote connect to the spark first, then activate and update firmware.

Planing for the maiden flight but the weather seem to discourage it.

Shop selling spark combo at $890 is it worth to get it if I don’t wish to buy online?

Hatchi/Challenger is selling Spark Fly more combo at S$769, give you one extra battery free (total 3 batteries). Go down to any challenger mini-store asking for this package. If they tell you is Hachi online only then ask the staff to help you purchase online at that counter. I think you need some Credit card or Nets card (They don't take cash if buy from hachi at their store, with their staff's help). They might charge S$8 more for online membership.

Yeah!! we have another new Spark friend!! :s12:
You are staying somewhere near CCK/Bt Panjang? look for me flying Spark after you got yours... and don't get red spark! mine is red color!... :s13:

I bought the package at $769 off the shelf at Vivo Challenger.

Don’t need Hachi/Challenger membership and the outlet still has red when I bought a white.

Tested it in a open corridor, disable the obstacle thing and the beginner mode. It hovered above ground about 3inches and headed right for a wall... Had to use my shoes to flip it over and drama over. Maybe too enclosed.

Yup. Dunno what's wrong. I think maybe I should find a open place to try again. Lucky nothing broken and the drone has that flip over switch off function. And worst.. I forgot all about the guards!!!

Finally went outside my workplace to try, and it flew! Yeh! Changed battery and realized I had to switch off the drone and rc and app to get the wifi connection between rc and drone up first before connecting to phone. Flew up to about 5 storeys and panic set in as gentle breeze blew it a little off.... But managed to gather more balls and flew about 15min in total. Next thing to figure out are the video cam settings as I noticed the colours changing as the drone flew up and captured trees.

Fun!

How come no phone? Can fly without phone?

You can fly without the handphone. Handphone mainly for telemetry or flight data sending back purpose.

I'm the lousy drone flyer who can only fly line of sight, meaning I keep looking at the drone. So handphone is not very important, and only useful for me to look at what scenery the camera is capturing.

when flying with remote control and without handphone, look at the LED carefully,
Front Red LEDs off means recording now or taking pictures.
Back green LEDs single/double blinking means optical/GPS positioning.
Back LEDs turning yellow or red means something wrong and better land it.

Under the gesture control mode, where you do not have a handphone, it seems like the drone knows how to keep your face at center when taking pictures.

have fun with your Spark!!.... :D

Never knew that... Ok will try. This means that sparks can fly with or without phone and/or rc :)

Great!
