I went to SLS with my cousin, i see quite a lot of decommissioned rigs.
Decommissioned rigs? Why would they be in SLS? Shouldn't they be on carousell or soemthing?

There are some shops that are mining with old and unsellable cards.
No idea, not stripped down yet i think but dusty as hell.

In 5 years time....how many generation gpu already? As I have said many times before, this GPU mining craze will definitely decline very soon. However it will still take a good number of years before it goes back to pre mining periods. I will say about 5 years.
This is because mining is still a profitable business strategy if you know what you are doing. However as crypto currencies get harder and harder to mine or some even collapse, only the top hoarders of GPUs aka big mining farms can profit whatever is left in the market.
But if top hoarders profit starts to drop and become less profitable, they may gradually reduce or even exit from the business. This will take quite a number of years though and it's not immediate.
By then the GPU market might be a very different martket as compared to now.

GPU mining will be extinct only if there is no more crypto currency to mine. It's been around since 2009/2010, only becoming mainstream and publicised when bitcoin (non gpu mineable coin) hits $20k last year.
It WILL be around for the forseeable future, only that gpu hoarding will blow hot and cold based the crypto coin prices.
Don't hope to much about GPU mining is going to die. Just went to SLS last fri and prices ease a bit like Powercolor RX580 8Gb at $609 as compare to $699 in Feb.
Stocks also can be seen everywhere too.
I also notice 2nd hand gpus selling at high prices. All trying to take advantage of the situation. I remember the practice that pre-owned electronic/electrical stuff devalue a lot once used. Usually 40-50% off SRP.
Anyway, Good luck to them.
