wrong! metal is not short for heavy metal! metal have damm lots of sub genre include heavy metal, black metal, trash metal,nu metal, hair metal, power metal & so on.

...metal is just a generalized term. it means HEAVY METAL. if you want to call iron maiden and the likes heavy metal, why cant i call them new wave of british heavy metal!? geez.

ever heard of melodic death metal? :) there actually are death metal bands with LOTS and LOTS of melodic riffs. im like you too, im always ready for a good melodic riff or solo here and there.

check out some...already mentioned arch enemy, detonation, black dahlia murder, amon amarth, insomnium and of course the legends at the gates.

of course...but you should really listen to some necrophagist albums...epitaph probably. you'll like how clean the tone yes, and yet heavy as hell.

By "some" you mean 2 I guess, they only released two albums.

yea..but sm are barely audible in their singing...so to speak. :o
at e most..i'd dare listened to "norther"...but not til COF..dimmu borgir..deicide or beyond tat.
in fact...inflames hv oredi toned down frm their growls.

ATG...heard of 'em b4...but nvr sample their music.

well, its...death metal, thats why some guttural vocals are barely audible. i dont listen to the more dissonant melody lacking extreme metal stuffs like deicide or anything else, and i dont listen to black metal.

you should really listen to ATG...they probably are one of the pioneers of melodic metal/metalcore today. ALOT of melodic metal bands these days cite them as an influence.
