Asian metal? Have you tried Seraphim?
Female-fronted symphonic power metal band from Taiwan.
For anyone who likes operatic Nightwish style vocals.. otherwise it's kind of painful... haha

trivium... their riffs are hard... takes lots of practice...

are you serious? their riffs are not THAT hard...i mean its been done to death by metallica many years earlier...lol.

if you wanna talk about technical stuff, check out something like necrophagist.

<object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/1ejXI--Fib0&hl=en_US&fs=1&"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/1ejXI--Fib0&hl=en_US&fs=1&" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>

even the bass lines are...=O...everything about the band is technical as hell. i love how they add the classical touch to their sound. awesome.

I also not very into folk metal, but got explore abit last time. Some interesting ones....

Chthonic - taiwan black metal with erhu + got hot bassist chick
Orphaned Land - prog band from Israel, very Arabian sounding
Lord Weird Slough Feg - folk and old school heavy metal, think The Sword fans will like also

For me I'm always looking for more fast melodic stuff like Megadeth, Arch Enemy and X-Japan, problem is not many band manage to stay and click with me. I especially love bands with dueling guitars and solos, I'm open to power metal too as long as not too flowery :s13:

Any recommendations?

Was one time on my playlist for few days but long time never listen to Orphaned Land already.

DT and In Flames are old birds, heard their stuff before. Not very updated with new DT. They are ok but I'm not a big fan.

Unearth sounds more melodic than most metalcore and Zombie Autopilot is not bad but overall the style not my cup of tea leh

Anyway for a change of pace, I've been listening to Diablo Swing Orchestra. Swing jazz mix with metal and opera, very interesting! :s13:

Heard the news that Ronnie James Dio has been diagnosed with early stages of stomach cancer, hope he gets well soon.
