He only has $2.4k left after CPF. Then deduct $1k for his parents means he is left with $1.4k for daily expenditure, utilities, and transport. Is he going to eat instant noodles only daily? He will have instant regret once he gets hit with an array of chronic illnesses a few years down the road.

yup. no mortgage, no rent, no wife, no kids, no luxury holidays, no car is ok. Maybe only child so may inherit the house, never need to get sucked into the wheel. but add a wife, or dependents, you're ded.
