don’t worry about it. the spot will appear regardless you apply water or oil or cleaner on to it. cos its a blemish on the leather by nature and it will appear to be darker than the rest when in contact with oil/water.
it should dry up over the next few days and become less obvious. but don’t fret about it, it will re-surface and becomes slightly obvious over usage, as the general area ages and the blemish part will become more obvious as compared to the rest.

So what is the perfect leather for belts?

In our opinion, Latigo leathers are one of the best for making belts.
By going through a specific process at the tannery, Latigo leathers are impregnated with oil and wax into its pores thereby the leather will absorb less moisture. One of the best feature for a time lasting belt.
