I read the discussion over at the denim thread, agreed, off topic LOL.
Put so much effort start the denim thread, then become leather, no good for the thread starter leh
Bumping this thread!
Let's talk leather....
I recall someone asking about oiling the leather.
Well, it depends on the leather you have ar.
Vegetable Tan leather - these are all natural leather, undyed at tanneries. Processed by using vegetable-based tannins. Because of its firm properties, it is most suitable for carving designs.
It is the most popular leather used now for the denimheads, due to its aging ability. When new, it is creamy in colour, after some usage and suntanning, it will turn golden brown. See pics, my short wallet.
comparing with a new one made, notice the great colour difference and petina forming.
For normal soft cowhide leather that we use, you dont need to oil it if you keep using it daily. The natural oil from your hands is suffice for the wallet. However, if you are going to leave it there for a long time not using. Oiling is require to maintain it so that it doesn't dry up.
The craftmen from Obbi Good Label always held our 'illegal gathering' at 310 Woodland every Wed and Sat. We will be there mostly for talking cock, design exchanging, or even making some craft there.
