something leather related too.

An ounce is of equal value to both 1/64 inch and 0.4 mm thickness.

For those trying to estimate the thickness of the different belts

Good piece of information.

Also belts goes in inches when it comes to widths!

8oz. :)

But i don think cheap is the right word to use.

Met the seller just nw. Very friendly man. Had a nice chat with him abt biz and our work industry stuff. And he takes the trouble to travel to my house to just deliver the belt to me. Thumbs up for service.

I may be interested in getting the 15 oz frm aspanol to compare how different is it

Yup tanning will darken the leather. So will oiling it.
However, you should still oil it when it starts to feel dry before it cracks.
The leather will inevitably darken anyway as it absorbs the dirt and oil from the surroundings as you use it.

actually curious.
what is the process of suntan for? is it a recommended procedure?

I understand applying mink oil is gd for the leather, like conditioner to hair.
But is it possible to apply le, but not give it a suntan, just let it slowly evolve and darken naturally with the wearer?

You can always oil it and allow it to air dry. In fact thats probably the "correct way" to condition your leather. Im no expert, but if im not wrong people suntan with the intention to darken their leather only.

Anyway oiling is good for your leather, but be careful not to over oil or your leather won't be able to "breathe" and will start to rot. Different people will say different things, but with Singapore's humid weather, its my opinion that you probably only need to oil your stuff once every 6 months or maybe once every year depending on usage and the type of leather.

dont be a joke leh
ppl use natural leather for the ageing beauty, why you want it to be as white as possible, might as well buy 1 that is dyed white, or synthetic stuffs.

^ darkening due to ageing and darkening due to tanning = the same?

i find that tanning give an overall darkening, which i dun wan it to be..

I prefer my natural leather to be stain with denim indigo and have uneven dark tone due to months of usage...

IMO, i think not tanning it and keep it as white as possible can bring out the contrast of the ageing and other stain better?

correct me if i'm wrong.. :(
