I'm buying yarns and some other stuff from HK. If anyone has any specifics (tools and such), let me know. The shop hasn't replied me yet. I'll make order by Monday and should receive it the week after when my friend is back (from HK).

There's no website. Just give me the name of the item and I'll check with the shop if they have it.

If your order is too troublesome, and you need this and that, I'm sorry I can't do it for you. Cos I'm troubling my friend (who lives in HK) to go to the shop physically to pick up the stuff and send it to the hotel where my friend is staying (to bring back to SG).

Nice! I have some stamping tools I would like to get. Mind if I tag along? I have some specific models in mind already. Anyway, your PM box is full..I tried sending the details over.

Retro esprit leather pouch

I have a leather esprit brand pouch which I bought in the 90s. The leather still feels very well seasoned despite keeping in the storage for many years.

There are some parts at the back where the belt holder is attached seems to have some blemishes or mould?? I used obenauf HD LP to treat it but the results seems to be the same. Any idea I can overcome these blemishes?

if you're talking about the one in the 2nd picture, I think is unavoidable. Seems like discoloration of the leather if you ask me..

1. can be due to long term storage, cracks might occur. might be due to wear and tear too.

2. discolouration in a certain sense. but its actually due to wear and tear. i have one of my leather coin pouch having the same 'issue'. but i like that way, a great aged effect.

3. no, its not mould. mould does not exhibit these symptoms, long term storage with mould cause blackish spots.

4. no, its not really blemish per se. blemish normally refers to scratches initially, or 'defective' spots on leather, due to some mishandling of leathers. might also refer to natural blemishes on the cow skin.

5. i would say normally through age, leathers mostly exhibit such behavior. Leather won't be 'as good as new' through prolonged usage. Structural intergrity, yes, but cosmetic 'freshness', nope.

Finally had time recently to finish a strap for my watch. 22mm tapering to 18mm. Edges painted with the Super Cova finish I got from Toby. The color variance was attained using Fiebings dyes.

On a side note, I have some barely used Tandy pricking irons for sale. Makes a line of holes roughly 5 stitches per inch. A set of 4 prong, 2 prong and 1 prong irons. Let me know if anyone is interested. :)

I'm looking at getting a veg tan leather hand/neck strap for my camera (rangefinder type), and probably also a camera bag in the same leather. Anyone has any idea where I can get them (off the shelves or custom made)?

How much will it cost me if I go custom made here?

Thanks in advance

Leather care services?

Hello,

Recently, I have bought some leather products(no brand) and I have no knowledge in them but would like to know the proper care for them.

May I ask where can I find services in assessing the leather and learn the proper ways to care for them? Thank you!

i believe obenauf and horse brushing them will ensure that they last a long time.

Corter leather has the summer grab sale. $18.50 for accessory pack and $36.50 for premium grab pack. Hoot before you can!

Dang! Saw this too late. Missed the premium grab

Was lucky that I checked cause he said it could go on at 12-5pm EST which is too early for us here. Can't wait for the packs to come and reveal the surprise.

Found this korean supplier of leathercraft tools/machines on youtube.
They have some interesting tools which are more commonly seen in Europe. Too pricey for average leather workers like me, but some of you may be interested.

You have to email them for the quotes

Search for "elfita korea" in youtube

Obenauf can be used on all leather or any type of leather other than suede of course.
