Hey man. I read through already(ok skim cos I don't understand the terms). But all these stuff won't really affect my phone even if I don't have those stuff in it right?

Used my N4 for around a week already but still not really used to the keyboard compared to the iOS one .__.

Let me try to explain in layman terms.

For rooting, most users wun need to root their phone. My N4 is not rooted fyi. (my past android phones are rooted btw). Users root their phone in order to do some specific things or run some specifics apps

OTA is a method where the manufacturer can "push" updates to ur phone. For e.g. Android 4.2.2. was pushed to Nexus phones few weeks back. The process where ur phone receives the update and u went ahead to upgrade ur phone operating system is an example of OTA in action.

Kernel is a computing concept. It wun affect ur usage in any way

Android allows u to dl ur own keyboard. Unlike iOS where u r stuck to the keyboard Apples forces u to use

I swear by "swiftkey: for keyboard. There is a evaluation ver where u can try.

Bought for $0.10 when they had the Google Play offer couple of years back

I'm using the Touchpal Keyboard, which is similar to Swype / Swiftkey, but is free.

rooting is sort of like going into advance mode for the phone. it's not necessary to root but more of rather if you want to unlock additional features on your phone with some risk.

The risk is extremely extremely minimal for Nexus phones I feel. It's entirely doable in 5 to 10 minutes. Things only start to get tricky when you start changing kernels/ROMs. IMO I feel everyone should root just for adblock (AdAway) alone.

Don't go half-way. Custom ROMs exist for the easier "OTA".
