Advise from the seller to post the statement to get feedback.

Quoting from his message: "Hi there, i do have some good news for you.. i hope its good news. I have a set of nexus 4 16gb from my friend who requested me to sell it. It would be according to the new market rate of $650. Would you be interested? You dont have to take up this offer. It's not mandatory don't worry, just helping my friend. Will still refund you the deposit even if you dont take up the offer"

May i ask does the Bold sentence imply he will refund the deposit whether or not i took up his offer?

The last sentence does not mean anything. he will refund if you dont take the offer. Doesnt mean he wont refund if you dont take his offer. You can always get your deposit. in the court of law, this wont hold water. it is just a matter of courtesy. Courtesy from you and the seller. my advice to you is.....BUY THE PHONE, DEAL WITH YOUR GIRL FRIEND & COMPLAIN THE SELLER ON THE OTHER FORUMS....

hi. thankks for your advice! you mean buy the phone from the seller? :vijayadmin: dealing with girlfriend is easier said than done :s22:
He is saying that by not saying anything about the deposit and accepting the $620 offer, im implying to him the acceptance to transfer the initial deposit to the new offer which i never mean or say at all.

The above statement is no longer valid as you had promised him that u will buy from his 'friend' thus willing buyer/seller.

if you don't wish to get chopped, you should had told him earlier... The moment you said that you wanted the deal, it's on. Somemore the deposit is with him, he is correct for not refunding you...

haha however i really doubt that his "friend" wanted to sell him

He has the right to retain the deposit provided that you have agreed on the $650 price tag. If not get it back.

If you agree on the new price than buyer remorse you want to cancel order, I think it's only right that the deposit is forfeited.

Like buying resale flat, I paid for the deposit to ensure that the seller will not sell to someone else. If I don't want, the deposit by law should be forfeited. If I want to live in the flat later, then I pay the balance to live lor. Singapore law not sure got buyer remorse law or not. Even if have I think not applicable in your case la since its not a big ticket item.

Anyway, try to work out with the seller. Give him/ her a call and explain, try to settle amicably.

Thats stretching it already. I can also say that by him not getting you the $530 Nexus 4, implies that he owes you $530. Same logic.
