Hmm, so i guess barring the static heard in video recording, and just potentially weak camera software, there isnt much of any other defects?
If you really want to look for them, imho:

1) No knowing how long the soft touch matte coating will last. If you own Razer mice with the rubberised coating you know what I mean.
2) Camera housing juts out from the back of the phone. Over time this will lead to dings and dents, or possibly cracking of the camera lenses as you set down the phone on hard surfaces.
3) Screen colours are a little washed out but that's just me getting used to them from the S3's saturated colours.

these are ok, i guess my only concern was after hearing about the static in video recording issue. wanted to see if there were any more major issues that might affect us ?

thanks for the very prompt response. i probably would join u all as a n5 user soon.

Read from the reviews there is defect with the case.. Apparently the buttons doesnt line up. Quite hesitate to buy, otherwise it looks great!

I do think it is just a matter of how you install it. Remember that the Power button is a little shaky from all the feedback we have seen. I assume that the TPU case has a recess for the power button. If you are going to slide the phone into the case just like that, chances are the power button will not be able to sit properly in the recess of the casing causing it to be depressed. Check out the video below for an example.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FsUHC2YYE0E&fs=1

There are people who reviewed it who did not have any problems with the power button and they installed the TPU first followed by the hard polycarbonate case. Check it out from the video below.

To help others who are making orders,

I made 3 orders for 32GB from Japan and forwarded it via Tenso.

  • The 32GB phone cost $570-$590.
  • Shipping from Tenso cost $23-$30.
  • GST is based on 7% from the value of the phone you declare. $39.90 - $41.30
  • Total Cost: $632.90 (cheapest using this calculation)

The variation in the prices depends on your credit card exchange rate charges.

I did own a copperhead before and yes, the rubber coating did start peeling off after a period of time. However, the Imperator that I am currently using seems to be using a different type of rubber coating as there has been no signs of peeling since I started using it two years ago.

If the Nexus 5 is using a similar coating to my Imperator, I won't be worried. Anyway, I will have it in a casing :)

dun get too happy yet.. my got two emails on monday 11 nov and the vpost tracking show "out for delivery". already out for delivery 2 days liao still no news.

I recommend u to download the singpost app to track ur package. More prompt and accurate based on my experience with n5.

Just got my phone today..

I also got the static noise when recording a video, not a deal breaker for me, am sure there will be a fix soon.

Unlock bootloader and rooted right out of the box, relatively painless process if you have fiddled with Android phones before.

I'm sure this has been asked somewhere here before but I couldn't find the answer, how do I add widgets now? And when I pull down the "whatdoyoucallit" from the top of the screen, why isn't there the ability to turn on wifi on/off? Or silence the phone? I have to go into the settings to do all these, did I do something to disable the shortcuts?

Thanks!

Congrats!!

widget: hold ur finger on any blank space on the home screen for 2secs

you mean the notification bar? when you pull down, at the top right there's an icon, click it for some additional settings. as for phone silence, so far i'm using power button.

have yet to fully explore either.

lol what did you do to him!

I everyday text him ask him arrived a not and stuff because was supposed to get black from him but decided to get white instead! Hehe kudos for his hard work for not earning much!

Totally enjoying with the phone coming from previous HTC nexus one and Galaxy nexus! Android 4.4 has matured a lot, I think they can take on iOS already!
