Thanks, but none of the methods seem to work for me, there is no "Other Devices" tab at all inside Device Manager, my N5 actually shows up in the "Universal Serial Bus controllers" as "Unknown Device" with the yellow exclamation mark. But if I try installing Naked Driver on it for e.g., it simply says "The best driver software for your device is already installed".

Any ideas, anyone?

Try turning off Voice Recognition; apparently it saves the battery alot due to no need for standby.

2. restart your comp,
3. plug in device

btw, are you in fastboot mode before you plug the phone to your pc?

Thanks dude... eventually it seems to be because of the below; the guide in xda also suggest need to use the ports behind the PC rather than in front. Now rooted with stock.


If you are on a desktop, use the ports on the back of the tower instead of the ones in the front. These ports are directly connected to the motherboard, rather than the ones in the front which are usually attached to a header cable which then indirectly connects to the motherboard.

Coming from N4 16gb, N5 16gb is sufficient for me but YMMV.
For JP, 16gb at 39800yen and 32gb 44800yen, shipping about SGD$15 and above + 7% gst. Also depending on your credit card exchange rates + service fees from MasterCard or Visa.

Just curious, anyone using battery saver app for nexus 5..? just wanna see who use what and see opinions of people who used a few before.. I am stock ROM and faux kernel and easy battery saver.. because with faux my battery still can't last me the whole day.. So I am trying this easy battery saver now.. Hope it is good..

Both of you, try franco's kernel. Battery life is astounding on standby, and he tweaked the colours.

Trying to migrate from previous rooted phone to N5 with TB. Dropbox sync seems to be extremely slow, can I instead just download TB from playstore, then transfer the TB backup folder files from old phone directly into a similar path in N5? Then do a restore?

damn!!!! definitely a sw bug, youtube is loud but the system sounds are ridiculously low.

I am using the jap set nexus 5, cut my own old Sim card to Nano Sim and put in with the Nano to micro Sim adapter. LTE activated when i recontract. I am using singtel.

I want to set my nexus 5 to 3G or 2G only to save batt, but apparently once i set 2G or 3G only connection. There will be no internet connection. But set LTE only, it works and it can be auto switched either LTE, HSPA or 3G connection.

Anyway knows why??
