Was trying to buy a unit from Play in Australia. Initially the order went through. Was going to send to a friend's place and have him bring it back for me. After two days, Google cancelled my order. Dammit. The reason is that the CC and the ship to country are not the same. WTF? Now have to ask my friend to buy and pay for me first.

Have you put the billing address the same as your friend's Australia shipping address?

Ahh that helps! Shipment coming in tonight! Didn't know I had to take the initiative to call them to arrange the shipment. Thanks for the advice!

You don't have to, if you can wait for it to be taken by delivery courier. DHL afternoon slot is 3-5pm. For other arrangements, you have to call and request yourself.

You have to use an OZ address as your shipping & billing address, otherwise it won't go through. The bank should call you once Google charged your CC to seek for authorisation/rejection. If you don't get called by your bank, you should call the bank yourself to check.

Sorry if i sound like a complete idiot. Google will only charge when its ready to ship. There's enough time for authorization process? Can the rest of the bros here that has brought from Google Play using VPN confirm this?

For my case, Google charged my CC immediately after placing the order. My CC bank immediately called me 1 minute after my CC was charged. Now, my N5s are with my friend in OZ, just waiting for him to ship them to me.

the n5 box is sealed when it arrives...so i don't think they open it..well not for tenso at least...

even if they try to open the tape (which i think is made of some kind of paper material) as careful as possible and seal it back after, its very obvious and noticeable...the paper-ish tape will crease and it looks so obvious...i've tried using even a razor blade to peel away the tape as carefully as possible and try to put it back...it doesn't work :s13:

Welcome! to those who found my sharing useful.

However if you do have reservations about them opening up the box then please order with Tenso. Mine came with the original seal opened and I suppose they resealed the box with Scotch Tape after their inspection? Anyway this is what they told me via email about why they had to inspect the battery:

By the way, we won't try to operate the phone because this is a new item.
But one thing: We must make sure that the lithium battery is installed into the unit or else the item could not be sent (rule of Japan post by airmail). So we will have no choice but to open up the box to confirm.

And after they inspected the box:

Your item is here. As the packing has some gaps which is not good for shipping, we did a slight re-packing which is not going to make any changes to the weight.* The weight after packing is 0.53kg.

Service Content:
1) Add air cushions and side kraft papers.
2) Confirm the lithium battery make it to the shipping condition (built-in type nothing is done)

*No operation done to the handphone. We just confirm the back of the handphone (using handgloves).

Thanks bro. i'll try to place the order again later tonight (right now all the VPN servers for OZ are down).

Hello all, new to the forum here. Have been following this thread but never posted.

Just like to share an alternative to buying the JP Nexus 5 set with everyone, which was what I used and received my N5 today - Using a Japanese personal shopper. I compared a few quotes from different companies and found this to be lowest from Bridge.jpn (google Bridge.jpn)

Total damage for a 32GB black set = ¥50765 ~ SGD$630

1st Payment before they order from Google Store = ¥49000 (Unit price + handling fee + shipping handling + 4% Paypal charges)

2nd Payment before they ship item over to Singapore = ¥1765 (EMS delivery + optional additonal insurance coverage + 4% Paypal Charges)

From the date instructions given to bridge.jpn to place order (11 Nov) to package arrival at my house (20 Nov). Could have been 2 days earlier if I could reply to one of their emails 2 days earlier.

*Note: When item reaches bridge.jpn facility, they will have to open the box to inspect that the lithium battery is installed into unit otherwise phone can't be mailed, according to Bridge.jpn

wah...their latest email to me state, Product handling: 2,240yen -> 3,136yen

they also parang buah sharp sharp...
