Anyone here has successfully done an rma with google for nexus 5 here? (Referring to those who directly buy the phone from google)

I might want to do an rma when it is closer to the end of its oversea warranty.

Anyone know how I can get my nexus 5 screen repaired in Singapore? I bought it from the open surface...

Have you try checking with open surface for support since you bought the n5 from them? Update us of their reply here after checking.

If you can do it, repair the screen yourself. Last time my Nexus 4 power button spoil, buy parts from eBay only 15 dollar, rather than going to LG to repair, $75 (that was after the N4 was introduced in SG and LG did give local sets local warranty).

according to one of the sites I was reading, someone said there is a difference between the newer and older set? something about the phones starting with a specific serial number (310 series)?

Ya, so what is the difference you have read about.
Anyway if you purchase phones from Play Store now will be 312 iirc.
310 is pioneer batch.

The speaker grilles for the newer sets are bigger as some people complained about muffled sound coming out from the speakers. But the red version still has the old speaker grills, and it sounds perfect.

Not necessarily the case. I ordered in Feb and received 310 batch.

Wow, that's quite odd, did you face any issues with yours so far?

AFAIK, it's just better buttons and the speaker grills like expositox mentioned.

I don't believe in such things. There is no hardware revision. Even though the speaker grills are bigger, it won't make any diff, i.e., it won't turn it to an HTC One.

what happened?one of my friend did check with the hp shop,is about 200++ to change the screen

I dropped my phone face down :( and the screen cracked completely.

The Open Surface said they would not do repairs. Which hp shop did your friend check with? Even if I DIY, it's almost 190USD to bring the parts in in the first place...

Really hope to be able to fix it!

Dont believe in what?

It's already proven the speaker holes are larger, the power buttons don't wiggle as much.

Not saying that it turns the N5 into BoomSound, but you know, they made the manufacturing process "better"?

And how can you say there's no hardware revision, the N4 had several. It's no doubt that the N5 would have at least one.

I think he's just trying to say that the internal parts (the hardware) is totally identical hence there really isn't a revision in hardware. The only thing that was revised were the dimensioning and tolerancing in certain specific areas. Maybe it should be classified more accurately as a design revision rather than hardware ;)

Hi, I bought my N5 from Google Play Store Japan in Jan'14. I think my phone just went dead. My phone was on stock.

Is there any way to claim the warranty? How do I go about it? Is it advisable to claim warranty directly from Google Japan, since the hassle of sending the phone back and all the procedures? Thanks in advance.

A wise man once led me to this post.

Also, call the support hotline of Google,
https://support.google.com/googleplay/answer/3053039

Idk if you call the Japan number they'll speak in English or not. Haha. But give it a shot, should be free if you call via Hangouts or Skype?

As mentioned many times, there is no hardware revision for N5 so far. Go and check the hardware revision of ur phone and compare that with newer build. They are the same. And fyi, there were older batches with no buttons rattling issue.

Read this for more info

Will everyone please stop talking about different hardware versions? - xda-developers
