A wise man once led me to this post.

deluxeforums.hardwarezone.com.sg/77358228-post5841.html

Also, call the support hotline of Google,
support.google.com/googleplay/answer/3053039

Idk if you call the Japan number they'll speak in English or not. Haha. But give it a shot, should be free if you call via Hangouts or Skype?

ok i check with him and let u know

definitely worth it,my friend had email google but no replied from them for 2 weeks already, maybe u can try called google japan and see how it goes

Tried to call from landline but couldn't get through. I called to 019-(81)-120 950-065. Anyone tried to call Google Japan toll free line before?

If you're buying from eBay screen parts, please double, triple check that they are real OEM parts.
eTradeSupply is known for its genuine parts, might wanna buy from them instead..

Don't just for the sake of saving a few more dollars end up buying fakes...
Watch this video.

Or if you got a friend that repairs mobile phones, buy the parts then ask him to repair for you, then give him some kopi money la :)

http://m.ebay.com/itm/231123512637?nav=SEARCH

Cheapest I could find

Ok, thanks! But I'm not 100% sure I can put it back together after watching the video, so if anyone knows of a shop that is willing to do it please let me know :)

hi fellow nexus 5 user, a warning to those getting nexus 5 from sgbest with 1 year in-house warranty.

recently send in my within warranty period Sony Xperia Go for repair due to erratic touch screen response.

Thank you Mr Kim from sgbest for not honoring my Sony Xperia Go warranty repair.

giving me rubbish excuses,

1. phone too old laggy, suggest me to not type too fast on the touchscreen. must be kidding i assume.

2. proudly showing me that the phone been flash back to stock android gingerbread which will speed up the phone. once he power on the phone, i see a big t-mobile logo but me in singapore not uk or usa. at least give me singtel bloatware if he is sincere.

i just took a minute to flash back to stock sony android gingerbread myself when i got home.

3. telling me the lcd panel has been replaced, yet there is a sticker on the back of phone left behind by technica stating "no problem". my guess is the technica too lazy to find the parts for the repair.

totally wasted my time at sgbest for their 1 year in-house warranty.

seeing the way he handle this repair, i give up and decided to send for repair elsewhere on my own expense.

now i abit regretted getting the nexus 5 from them last week, although i did managed to get a exchange due to the 1st set having the loose power button rattling build issue.

so sgbest 1 year in-house warranty is just a 7 days return thing to me. just dun expect them to repair your phone if it is 1+ years old model.

if you know what you are getting, check the set properly during the purchase, no point paying sgbest the extra dollars.

First it was open surface, then it's SGbest. Those "physical" stores really not reliable?

guess if u have a very obvious problem like maybe a screen that doesnt turn on, the shop will have no choice but to repair it.

for the not so obvious case like mine, the shop can just ignore the problem and refuse to do anything about it.

if the shop is having difficulty repairing it, at least give a discount for a new phone purchase?

think you have to omit the 019

Managed to call US Google CS. Here is the email received.

Dear Sheng,

Thank you for contacting Google. The phone needs to be in country of purchase, when the phone is in Japan and ready for shipping just e-mail me with 'I CONSENT' to the RMA process. Here is a breakdown of the process.

1) Upon receiving your e-mail stating 'I CONSENT' I will process the RMA which will send you an e-mail with four things of note. One, a longer in depth version of this summary. Two, a RMA Shipping Label. Three, a RMA Label. Four, a link to order your new device.

2) The RMA Labels - The RMA Label goes in the box on top of the device and the accessories that came in the original box. The RMA Shipping Label goes on the box and the box is shipped via UPS.

3) The Replacement Cart Link - This is what you use to order your device. We ship you the device even before we receive your old one. This will put an authorization hold (not a charge) on your account, which will be released when we receive your old device. This is of course because we are sending a device before receiving the old one. If you have questions about holds, your bank would be the best to talk to about it as each bank handles them differently. For the most part this does not impact your ability to make purchases, however we have had reports some banks handle this differently.

Note: If you want your replacement device faster you can pay to expedite shipping, more details in the cart link.

Thank you for contacting us. Feel free to reply to this email and I will respond as soon as I can, you can also contact us at 1-855-83NEXUS (1-855-836-3987).

Have a great day,
Christopher

RMA-ed a Kindle before, took 22 days using cheapest registered mail (SG-US). I had requested for an extension of deadline from Amazon, otherwise they'll charge you for the device if not received within deadline, things should be more or less the same with Google.

PLEASE tell them that you're not in US or whatever country you are RMA-ing, otherwise the postage label they give you is inter-US, will have no address, just a barcode.
In this case, you either need to have a Japan friend to drop in the Japan mailbox for you or smoke them and tell them you're overseas, won't be returning until after your work contract ends (2 years, blahblahblah).

I just placed my replacement order and should be shipped by tomorrow to my Tenso address. My current device will be returned to nexus5 Japan RMA centre via postage method within 7 days after receiving the replacement device. Perhaps, I should ask for extension.

Yeap, bought from Japan Play Store. I can place my replacement order first while they wait for my device to be sent back. But they will hold an authorisation charge on my card to avoid cheater.
