Hi guys,

I have been using my nexus 5 for 6mths since November. Everything was fine until yesterday. I was charging my phone when it's at 6% and I went to bed thereafter. Woke up in the morning and was shocked how hot the phone was and got this chao ta smell at the USB port of the phone now.

And the phone didn't manage to charge and was still at 6%. Used up and phone turned flat and tried charging again. Same issue it gets really hot at the USB outlet of the phone within 20secs of being plugged in and even the cord of the usb cable connected to the phone is really hot. Now I can't charge and thus can't switch on my phone anymore lol.

Anyone that encountered this same problem before? Anyway to fix it? Thanks

If I buy Nexus 5 from local shop or from local seller, will there be any warranty?
If yes, is the warranty claims the same when brought from google store directly?

Wow... What charger you using sia, amp too high is it.

I always been using samsung charger since day 1 without any problems. Could that be the case? I tried using original charger and cable just now to charge and same issue too

Which samsung charger? Big plug one ah??

Of course now you use original cable and charger cant liao la, already fried your charging port liao.
So cant get any power at all right?
Portable charger, usb connection?

Haven tried USB connection. BUT, the only portable charger I used recently was my friend's. He gotten this from taobao. Yesterday night before I went home was the third time I used it and around 5hrs later I went home to charge and story started. Could that be one of the possible reason ?

Nope, don't reckon it's the portable charger.

Have you tried to wireless charge your phone? If you have not, why not try that? Probably it was only the USB port fried.

Actually I have been using the G2 charger to charge my N5 so far..takes about just 1hr 15 minutes to go from 0-100%. Not sure if that's safe as there are slight differences in the voltage.

Any one knows where to but a new sim tray? I suspect the previous owner had his sim tray stuck ..got like pry marks.

Also. When I remove my sim card .. It's pretty hard to take it out.. Do you guys experience it also? If there is no sim card inside it will pop out more

I am using my Note 2 charger to charge my Nexus 5 since day one. So far so good.

No such experience, if can put in your sim card once, good enough no? Why need buy new one unless you're a frequent flyer or smth.

Never believe such horrible rumours.
I'm sure what you read is that Google is coming up with a sub-100 phone that has a mediatek processor.

Nexus being such an open line of software will not have mediatek one.

probably a variant, but they'll likely stick with qualcomm for the normal nexus. it already costs less than the flagship samsung without plan anyway.

Mediatek is not know for releasing their source code.

I'm having this high drain of the Android OS. Anyone know how to rectify this issue?

I'm not sure if you guys are experiencing this, but my N5 seems to have a poor signal strength when it comes to wi-fi. In my bedroom which is about 15m from my living room where my router is, my N5 has very poor reception compared to my Z2 Tablet, which has excellent signal strength. My G2 has also significantly better signal compared to my N5. Am wondering if this is something in the "bug list" of the N5 and hopefully will be fixed in the next firmware release/Kitkat 4.4.3.
