As I've kept telling people that the HDD interface isn't important as far as transfer bottleneck is concerned............ SATA I or II or IDE.

The limitation is in the mechanical parts of the HDD.

Most HDDs have actual transfer rates well below the ATA 133 MB/s rate.

SATA I interface is 1.5GB/s which is well in excess of the transfer rate HDDs (not to mention the much slower optical drives) are capable of.

The main advantage of the SATA interface over ATA is that the cables are much thinner and therefore more manageable and they allow more ventilation of air in the casing.

first..its gigabits per second..not gigabyte..

erm guys, i've got a question...

besides da western digital velociraptor 300GB, does sls sell other lower capacity 1 ?
