Network setting?my battery life improve. 2 black set both bought on 7 march. one use quick charge, the other normal charger.
quick very first low bat. even till now twice a day charge.
normal first week almost like quick charge. but after at can last full day. now saturday morning till just plug in charger.
both set data on, brightness 50% on silent mode normal call lasting about 3 mins, more to sms about 60 a day, music about 2 hours, very little web browsing. night time at home off data n on wifi
GSM is just gd for whatsapp only for data use hehewcdma. gsm surf net very slow.
Maybe I will like to try asking again...
when I turn on the mobile data, i get a message saying to be careful of data charges. And when i off the data, i get a notification on top indicating mobile data is off.
Does anyone get this on their Xperia S too?
Any way to stop this? I find it quite irritating.
Thanks!
Hello fellow Xperia S users,
Would like to check with you guys,
1) how come i on data, there will be a message to warn me of the charges, and when i off, something on the notification bar. How do i remove them permanently?
2) when i plug the phone into my laptop, i don't get to choose if i want to charge only or use as USB drive? And i can't seem to find anything on the phone to say i want to plug out?
Still getting use after two HTC phones...
TIA!
not only on ur Xperia S, my other android phone also same
1) No, you can't remove those notifications.
2) Once connected to the PC, it is connected as Media Transfer mode by default. Under this mode, it is charging the phone as well. Just unplug your phone once you are done charging / transferring files.
every new android phone is a learning curve
so its an android thing?
I don't get this on my previous phones, HTC Sensation and Hero, so this is something new for me.
Any way to disable it? (without rooting?)
TIA!
WCDMA preferred / GSM- The GSM phone is capable of using both 2G and 3G data communication and when signal strength is low 3G is favored more.
GSM only - The GSM phone is capable of using only 2G data communication. When the 2G signal is too low you get nothing at all.
WCDMA only - The GSM phone is capable of using only 3G data communication. When the 3G signal is too low you get nothing at all.
I note that some of you have switched to "WCDMA only" mode to save battery life. Just sharing what the different network modes entail:
Source: Preferred network types - Android Help
What the above means is that if you have enabled "WCDMA only" mode, the phone will not switch to 2G network (denoted by a "G" symbol in the notification bar) when 3G network (denoted by a "H" symbol in the notification bar) is poor or not available.
With WCDMA preferred / GSM mode, the phone will switch to 2G network once 3G network is poor or not available. I notice that this seems to be the case whenever I take the MRT and the train goes underground. I can continue to surf, albeit at a slower speed.
The more i use this phone, the more heck care abt the battery life i am.
Basically never bother to force close any apps, battery low i just charge. Enjoying this phone now.

Is it transparent?Just got this from my friend who helped me to buy.
