Anyone facing the below issue? Just want to know whether I am alone.

1) The google search widget no longer can search contacts.

My girlfriend's xperia S has the notification to upgrade the firmware, but she is happy with what she have now and is not interested in upgrading.

However, the notification just keep staying on her notification and wont go off. Is there any way to clear the notification to upgrade to the newer firmware?

Because ion was initially intended for US release only. It was only recently that Sony announced that it would be released in non-US countries.

Try go to settings > about phone > software update > press menu button and set change the setting

Ion was released in HK/Taiwan before they were released in the US. This is actually about 5 to 6 months after this handset was showcased by Sony.

Wonder why this phone is so late?? The spec is same as XS but with LTE only. It's late. And worse, it's late with GB and not ICS.

Not very long. The downloading and installing of the file should not take more than 15mins.

Tried again still fail..The steps i used are as follows :

1. Use the usb cable to link the phone (with power on) to PC
2. Launch PC companion, showing there is an available update for the phone
3. Click update
4. Start to show "checking computer for update"
5. Phone auto off by itself
6. Now show "checking phone for update"
7. Device software driver cannot be installed
8 . Follow the following steps to get the phone for update
9. disconnect the usb cable from phone and PC, make sure battery life more than 50%,switch off the phone and wait for 5sec (BUT MY PHONE IS ALREADY OFF when under step 5 - auto off)
10. Connect USB cable to computer
11. Press and hold vol down button key on the phone while plugging the usb cable into phone
12. After a while (like 15 sec) - still show msg device driver software not installed - due to device unplugged..

Did i miss out any steps ? The first update was ok but not this one..
Kindly assist..

Tried the Web Update service? Choose the "View all software updates" link at the following page.

Xperia

Better still, try to download SEUS and use it to update.

My PC hung after step 4.
So I decided to update firmware using my netbook and it worked. (both PC and netbook are Win XP)
