I can't remember exactly when Hangout was a requirement to be one of the preloaded G apps in any of android phones released which have to go through Google certification. Having said that, before 1st Dec 2016, any certified android devices with GMS, would be required to have hangout preinstalled and preinstalled apps cannot be removed, at least not with its stock firmware, otherwise it would have failed Google certification.

And just a quote:

It really depends on your definition of "top of the range" or "flagship". OP3T is obviously OnePlus's flagship and top of the range. However, it may not be the case if compared with other devices, depending what you're comparing. Some mentioned it's mid-range/mid-tier considering its prices. Nothing right/wrong, different expectation/mindset.

it s pity that google's own nexus 5 would fail its own certification since it was released way before 1 dec 2016 and hangouts could be uninstalled

and its sister phone oppo r9s also failed certification as it either could uninstall hangouts or it came not installed

the hardware, ability/functionality, price determines its range
i would have to agree it is mid range so as to set my expectations right, supported by hwz review itself

you working for oneplus?

pls help to defend one more app, duo also cannot uninstall, to help you with your argument nexus itself did not came with this app and classification of such uninstallable apps are under bloatware, even though is by google themselves

I never mentioned I am working for OnePlus. I also did not defend anyone. And what's this got to do with OnePlus? I was talking about GMS fact.

And No, Hangout cannot be installed on Nexus 5. I have it on hand now. It can only be disabled not uninstalled, so your statement was invalid. Establish a timeframe at when hangout was released and was made compulsory to be included in every android devices that have passed through GMS certification. Otherwise it's useless to argue which devices were included with uninstallable hangout.

Whatever apps that can/cannot be uninstalled depend on the OEM. Google has a certain guidelines that must be followed on the G apps suite that must be included to pass the GMS. However, Google does not enforce additional apps that come preinstalled in the device and either they are uninstallable. So why Duo cannot be uninstalled, you will have to ask OnePlus, since Duo was not required before 1st Dec 2015 by Google. Again, already explained above for the reason, OEM's decision.

Having said that, as mentioned, if you want to remove those "bloatwares", you should remove them rather than making a rant of apps that cannot be uninstalled and pointed finger at me for working for OnePlus for no reason, since they will not solve your problem, since the point is to solve your concerns. In fact, you shouldn't even use the device if you don't like it.

pls you need to learn to read
i am asking you if you are working for oneplus
you are the only one who is rigorously trying to defend oneplus against my rants so i am asking, nobody else seems to be as interested in my rants as you, even to the point of sounding being offended on my rant on a issue with 3t

my supporting https://support.google.com/hangouts/answer/6085452?co=GENIE.Platform%3DAndroid&hl=en
for some reason they mention uninstall so i am using the words they use, pls tell google to use "disable" and not "uninstall" so as not to cause confusion

so to correct whatever has been said so far, hangouts is not the issue but duo is
and then it makes it more of an issue compared to hangouts thanks to your explanation

Sure, you asked a question, but from my perspective your question was a sarcasm.

Defend OnePlus? I will say this again, I did not defend OnePlus. Obviously you assumed I defend OnePlus. I simply mentioned the requirement for GMS for hangout, etc, nothing to do with what OnePlus wants to install in their devices. Another assumption is the statement "sounding being offended". I am not offended at all, was just trying to clarify things. I don't care what the issue with 3T, since I do not use it. Again, I was trying to clarify things regarding preinstalled apps, nothing more, nothing less.

Based on the URL you provided, the title is misleading, yes correct, but the statement after the title is correct, a quote:

Hangouts is preinstalled on most Android devices, and can't be uninstalled. If you don't want to use Hangouts, you can sign out and use other apps for messaging.

Even on the provided steps, it was not mentioned about uninstall. The steps simply mentioned that another messaging app can be used, since it is not a requirement to use hangout, hence user can sign out from hangout if not using it. For Nexus 5 case, it was also not mentioned that hangout can be uninstalled. You also need to learn to read the content not just the title.

I am going to mention this. Whatever the issue is, it is your decision to solve them, since those issues are relative, not everyone has the same issue. Again, if you don't like it, remove it, or throw it away.

no worries everything dandy
anything stated here would be informative for anyone who is interested in 3t but anal about certain issues and helps them in their consideration
i don't think anyone would have raised this non-issue if not for me
