I would agree - I'm getting better battery life with my iP6+. The idle battery life for the Note 5 is not as good as the 6+ which is excellent.

I will be getting a new hp soon and am considering a samsung note 5 or lg g4. Poor battery life might be a deal breaker for me.

One thing for sure is that it is better than my i6. But for i6 plus, i think it might be the same battery capability. But tests ran by tech sites indiciate that note 5 lasts much much longer.

both 3,000mah battery. For me i got better battery life from Note 5 too under same usage. But i find the G4 idle better than Note 5. Heavy use Note 5 can use longer, if lighter use G4 will last longer i think.

GSMarena battery test:

Note 5
Endurance rating - 85h
3G talktime - 28:34h
web browsing - 10:43h
video playback - 13:51h

LG G4
Endurance rating - 54h
3G talktime - 16:40h
web browsing - 7:54h
video playback - 7:23h

PhoneArena battery test:

"We measure battery life by running a custom web-script, designed to replicate the power consumption of typical real-life usage. All devices that go through the test have their displays set at 200-nit brightness."

Note 5: 9h 11min
LG G4: 6h 6min

I was using G4 previously. Note5 is easily the battery winner by average 2 hours SOT. G4 battery is even worserthan my ex Note4

Let's assume the standby time is the same. I used 6, 6+, note 4 and note5, the note 5 definitely doesn't have poorer battery life.

Even if the standby is the same, the time u save from the speed of the phone with 4x the ram and 8 processor cores (u can really feel the speed when u use the phone), plus the quick charge 2.0 where u can charge more than 1% per min even in the car, results in a LOT of time saved for heavy users

I would say the standby time is pretty bad for note 5 honestly. And yes I have already tried the phone personally and it's no doubt snappy. But pity it's battery life is not up to par with the rest of the phone. Nonetheless it's a beautiful phone, and hopefully the note 5 would be able to receive faster firmware updates as compared to how they treated the note 3 and 4 in the past. Will definitely consider the note 5 as an option!

What level of battery life are you looking at ??
I could easily get 6-7 hours SOT on a mix of 3g/lte and wifi and 8 hours if fully on wifi
I consider this quite good already

Sounds good! Have you disabled any apps or tweaked any settings to get 6-8 hours of sot? And I'm still not confident in their firmware support.. Do you think they'll make the same mistake as what they did to the note 4?

Seems to be a deep sleep issue.. Think Samsung tried to increase the battery life too aggressively. Phone needs some time to wake up after idling for a while.

I cleared cache too after updating to the latest OTA firmware. Still same issue.
So far so good for me now. This is based on 2nd update and clearing cache. Will monitor closely but so far so good.

Skaade jie jie, still got lag issue on the note 5? Was it much better than lollipop on your note 4 previously?

Was the lag only confined to waking the phone from sleep or it happens throughout general use?
No moar lag! It's like the golden days on note 4 with KK. But must be fair here, note 5 is on 5.1 while note 4 at that time was moving from 4.4.4 to 5.0.1 which we all know it to be a steaming pile of poo. If possible I want to disable updates only if I can do it easily without root. >. <

I noted that on the second day of getting this phone, went to sleep with 80% and woke up to 60%. Dare not leave it unplugged.. need my alarms.

I was able to use my Note 5 for close to 24 hours on 4G all the way and to me that was pretty good enough! My usage was very whatsapp and social network heavy. Was hoping i could hit a day and a half though.

Bro, can share your screen settings and other tips? I "only" can get 5 hours SOT so far.
