Hi guys,

Not sure if this is the right thread...there is this thread and another "working shoe" thread andsince i'm looking for casual so decided to post here.

I am thinking of getting a pair of casual leather shoes (to be worn with normal blue/dark blue jeans)

I've look at couple of sites like zalora and aldo.

So some questions here.

1. Aldo , why do people dislike it?
I've read reviews and some said the shoes last for just a few weeks (like seriously?)
So do you guys really have experience buying and owning an Aldo shoes and it spoil in just a few months? Or is it a crowd thing, Oh everybody says aldo sucks so it must be bad. What is your experience?

2. Can you advise if this shoe(from aldo img attached below)
26_mumm_22_6.jpg

Is the design suitable to be worn with jeans and a smart polo tee?

Or If i feel like dressing a little "smarter" but yet maintain a casual look then shoe+dark blue jeans + brown casual belt and a tucked in casual roll up long sleeve shirt

3. Well i've searched online and when out a couple of times to various stores and seem like most sell sneakers or shoes like OT/leftfoot also sneakers.

Perhaps these type of shoes are together with those shops that sell working shoes.

1. Wrong thread, you are better off posing your qns to the working shoe thread.

2. Aldo is mass market produced poor quality shoes but overpriced. Worse still local franchise have much higher mark up than US prices. I do wear their very casual shoes like slippers, when on clearance sale price is reasonable.

3. A lighter shade of brown is more casual than a darker shade of brown. Shoes with broguing is more casual than plain toe cap. Derbys (open gap at the laces) are more casual than Balmorals (close gap). Light color sole is much much more casual than dark color sole.

4. If you need versatile choose something in the middle for smart casual look which serve both work and play.

5. Depends on your budget, low budget can see the real leather options from korean online sites. They make nice handmade casual shoe for real cheap. If you have more money to spare can look for Herring, AE, Meermin etc.

Hey guys, recently bought a weejun penny loafer online and received it today. however it is a little big (one finger width). any idea how can i make it fitting? I don't think im gonna do an exchange as shipping the item back and forth again is too costly...
