Hi very informative thread! I live overseas and visit Singapore yearly. Can gangsterkia and any others please pm me a list of optical shops which give good advice re products? I find it hard to tricky to discern which are good vs not so good lens. And price difference can be quite big.

there are a few nice shops around holland v area. what kind of frames you looking for? lens wise most shops have the same selections but frames might differ. maybe let us know your preferred frame types etc?

Along Holland you can look at EyeCare People SG, along Bukit Timah you can look at Mee Mee Optics at bukit timah plaza. Bukit Batok Westmall Mr Eyewear, Town area, KJ optometrist.

These are the few along the area you prefer. Also if you have qns regarding lenses or frames, all of us will be able to help you here too!

TBH alot of those areas are filled with chain shops, thus i am not really familiar with some/most of them. Regular optical shops around that area not much impression(i am still pretty young in this industry so i wont know that many places sorry!)

Only chain shops i can recommend would be Paris Miki@Taka/Vivo or else Lensmen@parkway..

the hoya version of 'digital lenses' are still called Remark Trueform and Remark Dynamic in jaybee hoya lenses price list.

the retail price of the lenses.
remark trueform 1.6 index with transition + HVLL BC = rm1700
remark dynamic 1.6 index with transition + HVLL BC = rm1610

according to the response from hoya, remark dynamic has the functional power located at the back surface. it means it will be closer to eyes? does it mean it is better? because it should means better vision than front surface of remark trueform rite?

but how come the remark trueform is more expensive than the remark dynamic for the same index and coating?

which one is actually better seriously?

this is the thing puzzled me.

price wise, jaybee spec shop gives 20% discount, it means rm1700 becomes rm1360 which is sgd448. if sg the price is about sgd400, it is actually cheaper le.

Remark Trueform and Remark Dynamic are different in manufacturing method.

Remark Trueform comes with front surface freeform technology which means the functional power is located at front (convex) surface of the lens while Remark Dynamic is with back surface freeform technology, functional power located at back (concave) surface of the lens.

Both of them are designed to minimized eye tiredness, soothe strained eyes and provide comfortability for long hours of digital use and near work.

thanks for sharing the reply.
if we were to go into concise optics which really isnt our territory, we would be confused ourselves.
power at the back surface of the lens means the power is closer to our eye ( think contact lenses vs spectacles) which means better optics.
most basic form of explanation already.

tag heuer no longer in the market hence servicing parts tend to be a problem.
those frames you see online are either knock offs or leftover from bulk purchases by retailers.

which particular model you looking for, i can try see if i have the spare nosepads in my inventory

yes. computer lens usually are with default blue coating already. relaxes your eyes with a slight addition power at the bottom and blue filter

I have a zeiss computer lens that I'm using now that doesn't have blue light coating. Browsing through shamir lens website, it's not clear to me whether these dual power computer lens have a blue light coating, since they seemed to be mentioned independently? Hence my confusion.

When did you get the lenses?
Most computer lenses are mostly addition at a slightly lower portion of the lens to help relax your eyes.
blue filter lenses only recently got added into these computer lenses as it made more sense to have it for people who use computer frequently.
it is possible for the computer lens to not have the blue light filter which tends to be more common > 2 years ago or so.
Now mostly come with it although u can have the option to opt out of the blue filter as some people don't like the color of the lens or the unatural color tone it produces

Hi,

To share my experience with those interested in the Hoya Mystyle. As a first time progressive lense user, I was worried if I could adapt to it as I have very sensitive eyes, eg I can get nauseous quite easily when I change spectacles. To my surprise, I had no difficulty adjusting to the progressive lense. It is very comfortable and very small blurry areas. Good stuff.
