Need some advice/recommendations for progressive lens

Currently age 45. My shortsighted power is around 425/450
My longsighted power is currently around 125
Due to a wide face, my current lenses are quite large and combined with my higher power I prefer 1.74 index power lenses in order for the edges not to be so thick.

I'm not well versed with progressive lens as this will be my first time wearing but what are the brands and range for progressive lens that I should be looking for? I usually go to my optician in lucky plaza basement and I usually buy local or Japanese brands for 1.74 index. Recently visited him and he quoted me local brand progressive lens 1.74 index for $480 (he said the 'intermediate' portion for this brand is around 4mm?).

I understand this price is quite cheap as far as progressive lens is concerned but this is probably because this is this local brand, but I'm also concerned if the more expensive, "branded" or "well-known" international brands out there have any 'technology' or better features that perhaps I should consider first before finalizing my decision to buy the local brand my optician quoted me?

The more branded lenses allows for more customisation to your glasses. Which helps widen the field of view, reducing the peripheral distortion, allowing for easy scrolling around the lenses for your vision.
However there are some individuals that can do well with entry level lenses too.. but generally I would play safe and recommend the better lenses.

It’s really up to your personal choice if you are comfortable with the pricing.
Generally they are still fine, but coating wise.. the branded lenses are surely better in that aspect.

To share, got a new pair of glasses and upgraded from Zeiss Superb Digital 1.67 to Smartlife Pro 1.67 Digital Individual. Zero change in prescription except for minor add in reading power.

Despite the old pair being around 3 years old, must say this is really the sharpest lens that I’ve ever had in my life. The Smartlife lenses are an noticeable upgrade in optical performance (v little distortion), and had zero adaption issues compared to my earlier pair. The Pro option is probably for that incremental 5-10% performance but it’s worth it.

Then I suggest either hoya sync 3 or Zeiss digital lenses if you don’t want them to scratch easily.
Hoya has an islandwide programme now to sync 3 to free upgrade to sync 3 pro which allows for more customisation.
Both Hoya sync 3 and Zeiss digital lenses are similar to eyezen in the way they work(anti fatigue lenses/digital lenses)

They are pretty much similar in terms of pricing now. Only thing is that til sept 30, Hoya has free lens design upgrade to sync 3 pro.

zeiss lenses get scratched far more easily. hoya usually not so, even after several years you can hardly see any visible lines.

300+ budget with 1.74 high index generally branded lenses cannot.. unless Pentax, Kodak etc… looks like your best bet is like lenskart/owndays. Unless you go to neighbourhood shop, might be able to find these lenses.

In General Zeiss coating is fine. Duravision plat is fine too.
Myself… I using Hoya sync 3 pro which is the hvll hi vision long life coating for now..

Hello, have always been using cheap-ish frames and lenses my whole life and would like to get something nicer now. Currently in my mid 20s with about 500 degrees for both eyes with astig around 150-200, so I am wondering if progressive lenses are necessary for me?

I have done some reading on the previous pages and can see that Hoya and Zeiss lenses are generally recommended. Would it be cheaper to make a pair in JB or would prices be similar? Also dont mind doing it locally, wondering if there are any recommended shops in the North East(Hougang/Sengkang/Punggol area) or in the East around Tampines?
