Hi Guys,

I'm looking for recommendations here. I'm making a career switch now, so thinking of changing my specs as well. Previously, I have been wearing frameless specs for so long that I'm out of touch with the current trend. I am switching to a professional industry where I will be meeting clients and need to inspire trust. I'm in my mid-30s.

The range of frameless specs at shops are quite limited, and some even tell me that frameless is out of fashion. Are there any particular type, model or brand that you can recommend me for work usage? I'm open to thin black square frames, but not those thick frames kind. Or is it possible to stick to frameless?

Please give me your comments and recommendations.

Thanks in advance!

I think you can consider thin metal frames like Lindberg/mykita/Porsche/minima hybrid.. generally thin and light. Price wise most expensive from left to right..
Frameless... depends on how you look at it. The shape for the lens can be altered.
Looks good for working profession. Frameless, still is fine. Well one meat is another poison..still fine!

Guys, shouldnt be too concerned about your looks or image! You maketh your specs, not your specs maketh you! Young guys in 30s wearing rimless are boring, out of touch!

Yes rimless are way out of touch from society. Those are like many years ago. Since you are going into professional industry and needs to bring across trusted image, i think its safe to stick to black plaastic frames. Just look at what hk magnate li ka shing and our president tony tan are wearing lor.

i just bought a pair of glasses using the 1.67 Eyezen lenses from Essilor, i noticed that watermarks/icons on the lenses. Other that the authenticity card, is there any other way to be certain that this is indeed Eyezen lenses from Essilor? I read some posts that indicate using the blow test but i dont see anything on the lense after it.

thanks for the help!

Wah. Thanks so much people! Think I really need to change my rimless specs now. Just that I've been wearing them for so long, I think I need to really go around to try out for one pair that I can easily get used to.

I was recommended Lindberg by one shop, but the dealbreaker was that there is no warranty provided despite its pricing. I will go and try the others you recommended. Thanks!

Just wondering if there is a shop that can re-coat Spectacle frames and what will the cost be like, if there is such a service? I have a pair of Oakley Transistor frame with slight peeling of its pewter colour. The frame is still in good condition, and ultra light as its made using Titanium.

I have the exact same model and colour as you. Was looking for a place to recoat but none.

You can try Lazada Official Oakley Store. Bought mine from there. "Lizard" model is similar to the existing one you have. I got Lizard 2 slightly rounded. S$204 - $216. Less discounts, I got it for S$150 +-.

Shops are selling for S$270 - $310. Best part, Lazada has 51". Shops only 54" and above.

I bought on Friday night and received it today (Tue). Comes in the standard Oakley box. Seller says can claim warranty from Oakley SG. Not sure how true.

Now to get the lenses done.

Anyone knows how much it cost to do High Index Multi-Coat at New China Opticians? Thinking of getting just the lenses with the new frame I bought. Probably with PC coat.

For progressives and lenses that are customised e.g. Eyezens, office lens, digitime, shouldn't have watermark. To identify the lenses, it's more of looking at lens near the nasal and temporal portion. You will see 2 dots at the side and the respective engraving.

Lindberg has warranty mainly for manufacturing defects.. but I have experience case on several occasions whereby the temple/arm broke off and they replaced the model for the customer.

I was recommended Lindberg by one shop, but the dealbreaker was that there is no warranty provided despite its pricing. I will go and try the others you recommended. Thanks!

Ha! Should have shopped around more, could have saved quite a bit! Just went to make a pair over the weekend. Will do so in future. Thanks!
