What's the best value place to get a 1.61 index lens from? Just the lens, I bought the frames online already.

I don't need any fancy coatings, just a lens. The last time I did it, I got it done at Queensway which cost me $70. Is that the cheapest already, or are there cheaper options?

If u know where to buy online... some sites are giving free 1.61 lenses with frame bought.. All my normal 1.57/ 1.61 lenses are free and i only top up $70 for transition 1.61 lenses online ..

dont know. i just know hoya all these more than 30% cheaper than sg prices(compare with my usual sg spect shop and those neighborhood ones).

recently I need to make progressive lens which previously made a rodenstock lens with progressive and transition, lens is 900 but discount become ( less 200) become 700 and frame is porsche design and total is 1100 SGD

did i get ripped off ?

Hey guys, bit of background: I go to an optometrist that is very pro-Zeiss, probably gets a kickback for promoting Zeiss. I recently found out about the Tokai lenses for the blue light ones which are (or seem) superior but they are still pushy on the Zeiss ones even though they do have an account with Tokai

This makes me rather uncomfortable trusting their opinion but not many optometrists in my area stock such a wide range of lenses, this leads me to my next question(s)

1. I already have a pair of Zeiss blue light lens glasses, is it worth ditching these and going for the Tokai ones?

2. Are blue light reduction lenses snake oil and should I just go for a normal pair?

3. I'm considering getting a pair of normal glasses to complement my blue light pair when I'm outside the office. Is there a "best" manufacturer/brand for visual acuity or clarity?

Porsche frames usually around 400-500, thus the lens like u mentuon around 700? WIth transition usually is more expensive and maybe 200+ top up. Means your lenses by itself is around 500. I'm not sure what tier of lenses u got but seems to be one of an above average one judging from the price breakdown. So.. if it really is the above average tier, i would say thats a pretttty normal price for your glasses bro!

1)Is there a reason for you to switch over to Tokai at this point of time? Superior or not, i believe it's up to the individual clarity tolerance. As some might not find any difference between a 100dollars lens and a 300dollars single vision lenses. So if Zeiss is working well for you, usually theres not much reason to change. BUT you are the customer so you have the final say in this case but IMHO zeiss lenses are already one of the best you can get. I have a pair of Tokai lens in the past and i see no difference in clarity compared to my cheapo 90 dollar lens(partially i have a high tolerance).

2)Blue light Lenses generally is used to either reflect or absorb a certain percentage of BL emitted from electronic devices. But majority of them still comes from the sun. The lenses basically helps to reduce the glare due to the slight yellowish tinge of the lenses, effectively reducing your eye strain.
But there are other brand of lenses which do not have the yellowish tinge but at the same time able to absorb the blue light,(some people do not like that tinge) so usually i would recommend the other brand which is shamir blue zero whereby it does it's job and not compromising on the colour-perception of the customer.

3)There is no best but probably a preferred choice. For me, i am leaning towards Zeiss, Hoya, Essilor and Shamir. There are more but i usually face lesser problems when i prescribe lenses from these lens manufacturers.

Regarding your first paragraph, Sometimes if there's no issue with your lenses, it's best not to change it. There are afew reasons, but e.g. if they are pro-zeiss, any servicing issue, usually will be easier to liaise with the customer service, but if they dont really order from other brands even though they have an account with them, the aftercare service might not be as efficient.(MY POV). As i said, there's many reasons but, if you are comfortable with them, then just trust their advice!

My suggestion is to see the models you are interested online, then call some shops to see if they have the model. Different shops carry different models and in different amount too. But if you prefer just heading down, maybe you can go those specific oakley shop at TAKA or VIVO iirc.....

got afew. the 1 beside kfc got ppl recommend also. yong ming seem popular either.

i only went there make once, at ban eyecare. just dont go there. intro some blue whale lens say is US brand. knn google say its KL brand.

within 1year coating peel off.

rule of thumb.. stick to those big name brands. ask for authenticity card.

Oh it means customised! Normal stock lenses you see in price list usually astig up to -2.00 only. But if you customise the lens/rx , it can go up Til -6.00 astig. Take note, usually is high astig that cause lens to be expensive due to customising it.

Currently I'm wearing a glasses with anti blue light lens. If I were to make a spare spectacle with the exact same degrees and Astigma(cheap lens), will it strain my eyes if I alternate the glasses?
