How do we find honest optician? Or even know they are honest? How many of us actually go inside the shop and ask about their optician instead of "do you have this [brand] and/or how much is this [brand] frames/lens with this specs. I think we spend more time searching and bargaining than to ask how qualified is their optician.
Thus, do we look at specs shops as:
1) like a doctor (I.e., the optician) and trust he will give you the right medication to treat you (correct lens) or
2) like a IT show shop where we find bargain and scout for the lowest price for what we want.
Disclaimer, just a discussion ya. I am very sure they are plenty of good, honest, qualified, professional and hard working optician and shops around.
Just that how do we as consumer decide, other than from word of mouth / regulars / etc. Most reputable shops I guess are safe, but we will never know if the lens may be defective but still "forced" to accept it cus we don't know how to check for defects. Of course those not so reputable/not well known have to compete to survive and offer better discounts than reputable shops.

I think the best way to save $ is throw away my digital device now. Just use SV until i got lao hua cant see computer already then jump straight to progressive.
If you close to are 40... cfm is got laohua alr. Just a matter of how much..
Don’t throw and give me can? Lol
They work similarly albeit sync 3 not being fully customised.
Helping you save money at the same time getting similar efficacy man...
Trust.
Sync 3 no DAL.
Need some advice here. Lao hua getting worse. Time for progressive. Currently using eyezen.
Understand that not everyone will get use to progressive. For first time progressive user, is it advisable to get cheaper in-house brand in case not use to it, or pay for those expensive brand so that it is easier to adapt.
Fair enough and I can't argue against it. Risk and trust. If things comes out bad, then just take it as bad luck / learning lessons (which can be pricey).
But I am still curious about the equipment used in testing. How important are those as a factor in choosing a shop to buy from. Does better or latest equipment means higher accuracy or measurement or details as opposed to older equipment. If yes, how much better or is it negligible? Also, do those equipment get/need software updates (like our phones that gets so many updates) or maintenance or calibrations.
Just would hope to understand this factor and not finding fault with/looking down at shops that dont have the latest tools and such.

My usual optician told me he dont have smartlife lens, made me think is it because he dont have the latest testing equipment to take the neasurements required. And why zeiss made it exclusive for selected stores to sell only?
I feel that lenses are like tv like that. Upgrade to more expensive tv means clearer, sharper, higher definition, better contrast etc. See already more shiok. Ofcos older tv still can watch not say screen cannot watch clearly, just that lower quality lor...
Does anyone here faces the problem with progressive lenses where near/intermediate vision is ok, but distant vision is very very bad?
It’s confirmed progressives and not office lens right?
What is the brand?
which is why I looking for alternative opticians ...Why so expensive one hahaha. Silhouettes not that expensive unless you were shown the pricey series. The normal ones around 400ish.
I will check it out for you later
Or if user eyezone is here, he/she can let you know.
