I had two pairs from crizal and their coating comes off too easily. Is essilor crizal? Totally boycott for life.

Even the pentex I had, the coating is still in good shape and can't find anything to fault. Alot of shops told me is the lowest end but can't tell what's wrong with it. One told me abit yellowish, I haven't noticed it until he mentioned it yesterday. In any case, can't be worse than crizal.

Haven't tried hoya. Was considering nikon or zeiss. Which is more durable and has more practical advantage other than marketing?

Zeiss coating nowadays are pretty decent. If you want the coating to really last very long, then Hoya

I think I'm sticking to hoya or pentax.

Any idea how much more premium is hoya compare to pentax in term of price and quality? I want to know if the price is worth the difference.

1.67 index for 2xx degree? you're spending so much more money to save that 0.2-0.3mm thickness

Just go for 1.60 index would do. If you want good quality HEV Blue absorb lenses, try out Tokai Lutina 1.60.
Price ranges from ($180 - $220)

Hi, thank you for the reply.. Sorry I got my prescription wrongly, the last time I checked it was quite a few years back. Just did a check on my prescription a few days ago:
R: -9.00-3.25 x7
L- 7.75-3.50-165

I was offered either Hoya or Carl Zeiss, quoted the following including frames:
1) $700: Carl Zeiss 1.74 Asiana with blue guard
2) $800: Hoya 1.74 Nulux V Full control

For comparison, I made a pair of glasses with the same prescription using Ashahi lens 4 years back and I paid $600.

Another concern is, my degree increased by a bit, like 50 for shortsightedness. but optometrist said can maintain at current degree. reason being optometrist doesn't want my eyes to be too strained when I see things close-up eg reading. Though I won't be able to see things far clearly should I stick to my current degree. In this case, is it wise to stick to the current degree?

@twinklingstars What is yur age? If you are nearing 40 yrs old then no need increase myopia too much. Your prescription is very close to mine. Im mid 40s and just made a hoya progressive recently. My one side myopia increased quite a bit im not sure why. But optometrist told me i have to increase myopia otherwise i cant see near clearly. I guess it has something to do with my laohua bah.

Have to see which kind of protection. Blue Absorb vs blue reflect.
Blue light bandwidth is from ~401-500nm.

The biggest blue light source is the Sun, subsequently would be light emitting devices when indoor
With that I'ld say blue absorb is a good to have as it provides more protection over the standard uv400 lenses. Whereas, Blue reflect is more for people who want to reduce light brightness.

Blue Absorb lenses block up to 94% of the high energy waves(up to 420nm), while letting the rest of beneficial blue light in.(~420-500nm). These lenses have an almost not noticeable yellow tint.



Blue Reflect lenses block up to 30% across whole blue spectrum (~400-500nm) & are generally much yellowish.
