luxxottica is the largest eyewear distributor in the world and when they get too big, they become very arrogant, just like our PAP. please don't support them.

So are Ic!Berlin frames considered as large eyewear distributor in the world? Charmant?

Should we support IC!Berlin since i got to know that they had just increased their prices, about a hundred dollars, and not sure for what reason.

Their new frames look abt the same and dont seem to have any better additions to the functionality or appearance.

Oakley did a wonderful job in advertising and marketing. just like essilor, their marketing and advertising budget is so huge they can keep bombarding comsumers with their products and branding. but then there is nothing special if you ask me, but still many consumers ask about crizal , crizal.... :s8:

oakley frames only look stylo, but for wearing comfort really fail badly. Heavy, inflexible..

Essilor also "looks" good on the outside, but inside is rotten. My friend works in essilor and he always have insider news. Becos they are trying hard to buy and merge other small companies in the market & become the dominant player, it is hard for them to have quality control. Small brands like PPL, OSA, ILT have been merged into essilor.

Ic berlin price chop carrot head one .. I made a glass online and I am surprised it is so light and comfortable then my Oakley n other frame. Lenses is 1.5 is even thinner then my 1.6 lenses in Oakley. Nose pad I large n real comfortable. Abt $30++ included shipping really the best deal in whole of my spect I wore for 20++ years

i dont agree. There are no frames design same as IC!Berlin. No other frames able to imitate as well, unlike oakley tagheuer u see close imitations. IC!Berlin you simply cant just because its design just too specialised. Tagheuer chops you even more in this aspect. Admit nosepad isnt that perfectly designed, but compared to tagheuer's nosepad its better.

If you really need to adjust IC!Berlin's nosepad, you still able to do it yourself with your fingers, whereas other types of nosepads you cant simply tweak with your bare fingers risk breaking them.

Im targeting the new 2012 IC!Berlin model. Costs abt $600 now after discount.

Well, u guys can try IC!Berlin for a change.. it might not suit everyone though

Yes, can try IC!Berlin, design similar to LINKSKIN, in that both are using rimlon to lock into the grooves of the lenses. Why they dont seem like rimless is becos they dont use nylon which appears transparent, they use the metal rims of the frames instead to insert into the grooves of the lenses. So in a way, these frames look like rimless though not totally invisible. Both use almost the same concept except that one is a clip the other a buckle lock. Both are my personal favourites in terms of weight, flexibility & comfort grip. But do take note there are minor flaws with each of them. For linkskin frames, as the temples are made of recycled polymer through the process of injection molding, dont expect the appearance to be that perfect. Maybe due to this maufacturing process, their frames cost cheaper than IC!Berlin as well, only abt $140 after discount.

Been reading up a bit on this thread. Currently using contacts but wanna get glasses cuz just started work and staring at computer screens for long hours giving me really dry eyes and blurry vision a little bit.

Used to wear glasses when younger. Right before I got contacts I bought Ray Ban Wayfarers and put Transition lenses in. It was way too heavy and kept sliding off my face damn annoying. Was also very close to my face so when it got very warm my glasses kept fogging up.

Now I want something a bit more professional. Wayfarers too goofy for the office. My degree is about 225 only with slight astig I think. Budget not much leh. Preferably under 250 all in. Willing to pay more if really worth it. Any recommendations for lenses and frames?

Read about TR90 as a frame material on styleforum, but haven't seen it locally yet. One guy was selling some Korean brand ABBA TR90 frames for about 50 bucks only.

Brands wise I like Carrera, Lacoste and Paul Frank - slightly retro serious type in tortoise shell color. But don't want to waste money for needless branding. Don't mind no brand if quality is decent. Also really like MODO and their sub brands, very very nice!!! But not sure how much its gonna cost here if their even available.

Lenses why 1.5 should be ok? Hoya or Crizal?

Those kind of shapes, now Braun Buffel, Marc by Marc Jacobs, Paul Frank ect all doing.. now is like the trend.

For lenses.. Hoya always >> Crizal (unless u talking about which is cheaper den crizal wins)

ic! berlin is not considered large, as they only make ic berlin and nothing else. Charmant can be considered quite big.

i am not sure if you should support ic! berlin. but if you like their product i don't see why not. their prices have not changed for quite a number of years since being launched in singapore. it's a pity that they have increased price.

however compared to brand like Ray ban (whose distributor is Luxottica), the last time they increased price if i am not wrong is about 6 to 8 months ago. now they have increased their wholesale price again by 10 to 15% . it's really ridiculous cos even if they factor in inflation, it should not be that much.

ic berlin frames may look the same and function the same but they sell very well in taiwan and thailand for some reasons and they are much more expensive compared to singapore.

How high ur power? Frame size? Lens shape? Pupil distance?

All these contributes to determine ur approx. lens thickness.

power is 500R 450L.

Pupil distance not sure....

If IC!Berlin designs, mostly are Rimlon structure. so 1.67 offers a better tensile strength. Not to say it's cheaper and faster to arrive.

It will be slightly thicker. i'd recommend 1.67
