Hi all,

I haven't change my specs for the last 10 years so very out of touch. Due to aging, decided to make a pair of progressive and was shocked to discover the price of lens can reach $700. I was told the frames can affect the type of lenses so my questions:

1. What is the price diff between soft and hard lenses? General idea will do.

2. Thin, half-rim, rim-less frames can only use soft lens? Or hard lens? Plastic frames leh?

Any good and cheap optician here in the forum that forumers can recommend?

Hi all,

Any advise?

I know that certain outlets of Grand Optical & Nanyang Optical carries a nit of masaki frames but overall not too many shops in sg. The disadvantage is that the lens size is rather long, ard 57 minimum as such lens rather thick at the side unless u r having lower prescription else not advisable. It is not v light even though made of titanium. But if u really like the design & u go into jb u can try this store "Eye Optic Vision" at city square.

I got my Masaki from Grand Optical Toa PY.
I love the frame. Suit Asian face. Frame cost around $250. Usually they only bring in one pce per model. Limited range available. Not light frame but give a very smart look
My astig is around 200, myopia 50. it looks fine.

You can try Jins-jp.com. Plan to make 1-2 when i visit Tokyo in Dec.
Very affordable only from 5900 Yen to 7900 Yen comes with glasses. Take about 3 days.

At toa payoh central?

Is masaki stainless steel or titanium frame and will tarnish over time?

So with the lens, how much u paid in all?
And what type of lens?

I have a remaining budget of $350 on optical. Was recommended an addidas frame with hoya hvp 1.67, but don't think it is worth it.

Thanks

I m a lady, thinking of getting tag heuer rimless frame with red size. Do u think it is a good idea, it feels v comfy but just look too casual. Also was told the rubber side would melt after long period of use and it is costly to replace.

I have been using tag reflex half rim for the past 2 years, normal office usage and not subject to sports wearing.

Good condition of the rubber temple thus far

It wear off faster if u wear it to exercise... It's comfy n come with 2 years warranty..
Probably by the time the rubber 'melt' u would have change n gotten a new spec...
I m into my 3rd pairs of tags...
