help guys,

i thinking of buying sunglasses , no need to be fashionable type but must have good protection.

I heard those curved sunglasses offers better protection but if you make prescription lens, depending on your degree, it may distort your vision. should i wear contact lens and wear the normal sunglass or how should i go abt the problem?

another alternative is those clipped on sunglasses but i am not sure if it is equally good. those clipped tinted lens one a bit small leh.

I am confused as to which alternative to take. hope to hear frm you experts.

The sunglass is for me to wear during driving only occassionally.

i tink if u already are using contact lens, then just buy a sunglass & use it with contacts...also,prescription lens will be an additional cost...

anyone knows where i can sell my burberry frame? brought it sometime ago but never wore it.

hmm.try marketplace?....anyone with better suggestions?i also got specs to sell....

i have a qn on those curved sunglasses. i heard there will be image distortion if you use prescription lenses. One of the optician recommend me to use nikon lens and it will lessen the image distortion because they specialises in making curved lens but it cost 500+.

other opticaian say if u buy those clipped on sunglasses with the lens straight and not curved is bettter. otherwise wear contact lens.

would like to hear some advice frm the expert here which way of wearing is better. thanks.

there will be distortion if you roll your eyes and look to the side of the lens. If you look straight, it is normal. I believe oakley make distortion free sunglass lens. But the price is incredibly high.

500+? what is your degree? and you want to make lens for what frame?

one eye 300, the other 400. Does nikon less really reduces the distortion? i looking at oakley monster dog, the frame is cheap only 215 but i think the lens too ex. don know if i should wear contact lens instead as I don put on sunglasses everyday.

if is oakley made lens , is 800 and above, really ex, i am just a poor peasant

sic location if convenient....

i tink its a sunglass frame but veri popular for making prescription...yup,cuz of high degree, tts y lens very thick.i still tinking about whether to make or not....the shop also suggested an alternative, straighten the frame to negate the curve but i not sure how it will look.... anyone got experience with this method?

Wiretap was advertised as sunglass and prescription frame, and yeah Wiretap is very popular as prescription frame because it is curvy.

I suggest you ask other optician? My degree also 600+ and I could make a lens for Juliet, I don't see why they cannot do the same for wiretap.

Err I would not straighten the frame though, what is the point of choosing curvy frame if you are going to straighten it? The shape will be wierd, you are better off choosing other frame. No offense but I feel the optician was trying to make you buy the frame by suggesting that to you. If he think the lens cannot fit in the frame, he should advise you against it, not suggesting to straighten the frame. Just my opinion cos once an optician also suggested that to me once and within minutes I escaped from that shop. Considering that shop sell mostly highend eyewear, I was disappointed. Just my opinion

300 and 400 is not so high. I think it depends on you, if you like to roll your eyes to the side of the lens, then distortion is not good for you. But if u mostly look straight, I guess it is fine.

I don't know about nikon distortion. I use some normal lens for my oakley juliet and I paid 380 if you want to know.

If you use 500 lens on 200 frame, it feels funny though.

Reading the last 10 pages, it seems like Kwong Shin opitical is a good place to go. Do they carry a large variety? I have no idea what kind of specs I want, need to try.

Planning to buy one before I ORD.

today i encounter a spec shop that sell way below retailer recommended price after hard bargaining, cheaper than the cheapest online store i found on net.

Is it illegal for them to do so and If i buy at that price , will my spec be under the usual warranty?

btw anyone noes abt clipped on sunglass? apparently i asked around and only rudy project and briko have them but briko like not reputable.

Also whether will you have image distortion if you wear the spes? I know for contact lens there will not be distortion but the insert is hold by a flexible wire and made to bend round the frame. I don really find the prescription lens curved though

Your wiretap is RX version or Sunglass version?

I am wearing a wiretap too, if you wear wiretap for a long time and you change another pair of normal specs, you will see the plane shift.

I don't think oakley has clip on glasses, so I think that is 3rd party.

Glad to help. I am sure there are shops that can do it.
