I'm interested to make a pair of oakley prescription frame with polarised shade. However, some of the shops told me it is not possible due to the frame which will resulted in the curvature of the shade.

Read in 1 of the post that someone has actually do it before but unable to locate that post now.

Has anyone make a pair of oakley prescription frame with polarised shade? Is it possible in the 1st place? What's the cost?

If the frame is part of the Ophthalmic/ Prescription range, it shouldn't be a problem for it to be done locally. Those are usually not as curved as the sports wrap type. Then again, it may depend on your RX.

For those wrap around type of sunglasses, it would be better to have the original Oakley RX lens. Even then, Oakley would not usually recommend it if your power is more than -4.00 and cylinder more than -2.00. Local cases, they usually do not have the resources or skills to select the optimal base curve, compensate prism and thus I've seen too many returns for complaints of headaches and distortion even for RX as low as -2.00, many shops are very apprehensive about taking on this kind of work as well, so they just tell you no.

Costwise, you need to discuss with your optician, at the same time you get the frame.

wats ur prescription? if ur degree/astig is high or if ur s sensitive person then its not really recommended cos the vision will be slightly different from normal prescriptive frames. the effect will be worse if the lenses are polarized.

Is it? Any shops to recommend?

i cant name shops for obvious reasons but don go to big name chain stores cos they really have to follow RRP...

reputable small-timers tat have been in the business long enough can offer u the same thing at a slightly lower price...queensway shopping centre is a good place to start LOOKING for ur bargain :s7:

Queensway there's a shop that sells P.I oakley too. If u don;t mind u can try it out. But to me, i compared the frames with those authorize dealers, there is a slight difference somewhere.

Looking to make an Oakleys frame with some good quality (but affordable, lol) lens. Any recommendations for shops I should look out for?

Also, for Oakleys frames, what does the 2.0 and 4.0 behind the model name means? Will be on the lookout for Oakleys Dictate 2.0 Matte Black or Ratchet, what pricing should I be expecting for these? Don't want get chopped :D
