I would really recommend you all who just wan make specs and not looking for any really exp 500++ dollars specs, can go to KK Hospital to try. Their price very relatively cheap. I strongly recommend to all. Good service also.

and no,i not hired by them or wad, just felt that the other places charge high prices. to do a pair of full coated lens for 300+ deg,ish just 20+ nia,but i not sure thickness. Where as other place got 30+ de.

so if you gort time,go try KK hospital there, beside the kopitiam there :)

Just got my new spec with Seiko 1.67 SSV aspheric...

Funny thing I noticed... nowadays the lens get so flat at the front like I'm wearing a square block of plastic... it feels so funny... not so nice leh...

Are all aspehric lens like that nowadays? I think curve lens look nicer and more natural...
too flat really looks funny....

Also... that optician adds 25deg and 25 astigmatism... although for 10years I have been using the same degree....
now like a little not used to it.... feel a little giddy leh... how?

How to know if that degree is suitable for you? and how many days to adapt to it before determining that it is not suitable?

I'm no expert in optical, I thought you can select the shape of your lens that match the frame or the limitation of the lens?

I have 2 progessive specs but till now still not used to it as I seldom wear...my eyes gets tire easily..think I'll get it check and see what the doctor say and decide the next steps...

No I do not mean the shape of lens... its the surface of the lens that is flatter... which is called aspherical lens...

correct prescription is important...
so i wonder... how to determine that...

await experts in this area...

Just a heads up to anyone with Titanium frames. I have over the years noticed alot complaints for "memory titanium" frames. Of course, many satisfied users as well.

The best perspective dealing with this is to treat them like you would any regular specs. True, pound for pound titanium is stronger that other materials like stainless steel, but it is by no means "unbreakable" nor should you abuse the elastic properties of beta titanium. Think of it as a kind of spring hinge but don't bend it so much till it is a straight line just to show you can. Put it in the case when not used so as to avoid a situation where you sit on it or apply too much pressure on them.

Rimless memory titanium has many points of weaknesses, including but not limited to the mountings. They have been known to break at the bridge, the mountings and the temples. It is also not recommended for use in sports.

Anyone? how long do u adapt to new specs?

Is it normal to feel giddy and floating? Dont move my head still ok... feel ok... once move my head or vision... feels slightly giddy... especially when walking and looking at the floor...

how how? that's why I hate changing new specs and new lens... and every brand of lens (even with the same degree feels different visually).

Really need help!

Hope to get some advice!

I have history of difficultity in adapting to new spec/lens and hence have thrown away many spectacles (5 new pairs, each cost me at least $300... the most expensive one is $700).

This time I just made a new spec with Seiko 1.67 SSV Asperical on a Swissflex half frame.
However I have problems adapting to it (feel giddy).

My previous lens is a Seiko 1.67 (Non aspercial I guess... because it does not look as flat as this new one)... That lens and spec combination is okay because I took less than 2 days to adapt to it.

I'm also prone to eye fatigue easily which I have consulted eye specialist and find nothing wrong with my eyes. Maybe it's because of my profession? since I need to use the computer often and often eye strains...

My current degree:
625 with 150 astimatism

I'm trying to find out all the reasons for me not being able to adapt to new spec/lens so that I can avoid when choosing the right frame and lens combination:

1) Wrong degree? Either lesser than required (which result eye to strain) or too sharp which causes giddyness.
2) Polishing? Too bright due to polishing on rimless or half frame lens? Now I know polishing is a definitely no for me.
3) Brand of lens? I made same degree lens of different brands before, each one feels different. Some causes blurness and glare even though it is multi coated (eg. Hi Top and Essilor). So far I only tried Seiko, Hi Top, Essilor and Sola transitions... and the past 4 lens I used are all Seiko 1.67... so have been using that brand for around 10years. I wonder if I'm already so adapted to this brand that I find it hard to use other brands?
4) Technology of lens? Eg. Asperhical? Not only it looks funny because of the flatness when you see it from the side view and does not go according to the contour of the eyes. I wonder if the visual is affected as well?
5) Angle of the lens? Too flat or too tilted forward or with different angles (3D angle possibility differences).
6) Weight of the frame and lens?
7) Frame problems? not comfortable temples (too big/thick at the ear area or too tight) and wrongly positioned nose pad etc etc. Pressure at the nose area or pain at the ear area.

The new spec is the 2nd pair I make within the last 2 months... So I'm thinking of getting another pair hopefully it would be right this time. If not I'm considering Lasik... which I need to find out the pros and cons and whether I'm suitable...

Mostly is over corrected degree, since you have flooding floor. Have you ever wear before polish rim?? It may be a problem too!

over corrected? any ways to detect it? or prevent it?
when the old lens, I see some words are slightly blur but now with new one, it is clear...
so meaning wearing old lens with only 25deg difference... i have to strain my eyes on looking at distance objects.... with new one... it seems clear... but then... it's also tiring because when I start to walk or move my head around... its funny...

due to different ppl have different problem as what i can say... Mostly is (Over Corrected) it may also occur when your axis is out which will also may affect your vision and have giddiness or flooding floors this are sensitive to astigmatism. Best is to go back and complain and request another check up. Usually lens should have at least a warranty of 3month - 1year- depend on your optical outlet.

there isnt a service centre for Silhouette frames in Singapore but any authorised distributor should be able to replace the broken temple for u

it may come at a cost though...check ard before committing :D

sometimes its the adjustment of the frame...minor adjustment will do wonders for ur new prescriptive specs...

if its too flat then it may be because the 2 nasal part of the frame is bending inwards causing the focal point to be off. adjustments to the bridge should be able to solve ur problem unless ur really very sensitive to degree changes...

there are many problems to why u cannot adapt to new glasses but alot depends on who is dispensing ur new pair of spectacles. unadjusted new frames will cause many discomfort and fatigue to the wearer

im sure if u voice out ur concerns when u get ur new pair of glasses, the optician should be able to narrow down frames tat are more suitable for u :)

Can that be changed even though there's warranty? since if it's due to wrong prescription or axis out?

I guess having a good optician is important...
