price check

Hello everyone,

I've been reading through this thread to find out more about lens and frame as I'm thinking about geeting a new pair of prescription glasses.

I've asked several shops but the prices seems to vary a lot. One shop gave me the following quote for Essilor lens :

1. Progressive
2. Transition (1.6 index)
3. Essilor comfort range
4. Crizal Advance coating
Quote - S$580 for lens. Is this a good price ?
I'm thinking also about using Airwear lens instead cos I may go for a rimless frame. How much more (est) wil lit cost to get the Airwear range ?

Thanks

What's your prescription like? A lot of people seem to focus too much on the price alone. Bear in mind your prescriptions play a part. And then, Progressives are more expensive ....

150 for presbyopia

Hi all.

Need some advise on my encounter. Maybe hard to explain so pls bear with me

I order a 1.67 Crizal Advan with frame. My degree is around 700+/eye

I went to collect my spect today. There is this weird problem I experience. Need an example to explain:

Assuming I am on this new pair of specs and look at nothing but a square. If i move/nod my head downwards but eyes are still fixing on the square, what I will see is the square will be "distorted" and become a rectangle. if I look upwards, the distortion isnt that significant but still there.

After doing some experiments with the optician, we noticed that

1) the frame design actually tilt the lens to be not parallel as your surface of my eyes but slated in the sense (if u look at the side of the spec) that the upper part of the lens protruding out more than the lower part of the lens.

2) He claimed the sharpness of the lens is clear and perfect, based on some machine he used with has this circular monitor like an target. Dunno what u call that.

3) Due to my new lens being smaller than my current one (to be more precise, the width is in fact smaller but length is abt the same as my current old one), such problem may exist. He also claimed that the position of my nose and face shape (yes...he mentioned that) may have contribute to the phenomenon.

4) I have no such problem using my current specs. And it is not a Crizal but some Japan brand which i cant rem. One thing to note though, my current old lens is boarder (aka the width is longer) compared to my new lens.

So what you guys think? It is a manufacturer fault (as in the Crizal lens) or its a normal sight to have distorted images? Anyway, the optician is kind enough to allow me to change to another frame which dun have this slating problem of the lens. But I cant be very sure if the lens do not contribute to the sight i observed. The new spec will be ready by end of the week...

TIA!

hello gurus, need some advise on frames, mainly full acetate/plastic as i'm pretty rough with them like messing up the wire nosepads. i've got a low nose bridge person

been considering swissflex Rainbow or oakley acetates. swissflex proven to take hits, got one of their half frame still going strong but lens chui already, read that can choose for adjustable nosepads? anyone opt for that locally?

used to have oakley box spring, a-wire and recently a converted fives. those with the famed rubber really helps the frame to stick but it always chui in a year for my case. went through 5 sets of replacement rubber kits ($20+) before the twice re-lens a-wire got corroded. damn boh hua until i heard genuine oakleys can go back to Larrikin for free lifetime rubber replacement?! is that true? if yes i will probably get their acetates with unobtanium socks

am open to any other brands that specialise in asian fit plastic frames, probably japanese in particular. budget probably <250 for frame. appreciate any help if you could recommend me shops that carry those where i can SSLL. heard IC berlin quite hot in here also but where can i find those?

TIA everyone!

It just goes to show one thing. The specs didn't fit him properly in the first place or worse, design fault, the specs doesn't stay in place. :D

yo bros and spec gurus,
Anyone here got any comment abt Oakley Evade?
Will be getting 1 soon. Is there other cheaper equivalent? Like the frameless design and the sides.
Lastly which is the best place to get the spec? Frame + lens costing 650. Reasonable? Lens is multicode, 300 to 400 degree. Impact resistance

Hey I was offered 640 for tag heur frame. They said crizal anti fatigue cannot combine with airwear. Is this true? Anyway I went to the optics shop at bedok point. I think it's called Pearls or something. Anyway is the price good? They said crizal transitions with anti fatigue is about 170 is this good price?
