wow...how much does the repair cost?

managed to find a shop in ION that carries IC...wow the prices damn steep and realised the lens are all curved.

Would that require special curve lens to be made? How much more if compared to crizal airwear lens (350 deg each side)?

Also, if i only have a small budget of $500 for lens and IC frame..is it possible to find?

thanks

5-6 years back, I used to have this pair of japanese titanium half rim frames which lasted me for at least two years before it broke. Needless to say, I was pretty rough with it, I have lightly stepped on it while climbing out of my bed numberous times, not to mention squashed it while lying down one side to watch anime.

It costed me about 450++ back then and I bought it at paris miki / bugis if I didn't remember wrongly, I'm pretty sure I got ripped off then. LOL.

Then I switched over to random brands at neighbourhood stores, queensway, tried a few brands over the years. Of course throughout this period I was taking more care with my glasses and stuff. I bought a total of maybe 2-3 pairs in total? Apparently nothing cheap lasts more than 1 year from the way I wear them.

Last year I bought an oakley bottle rocket 2.1, I was rather impressed with the finishing as it did look rather cool. I don't know if I'm unlucky or what, but just two weeks ago one side of the glasses actually broke while I was holding it. I'm not sure with other oakleys, but for my bottle rocket, where you screw into the frame? The screw was still attached to that metal piece sticking out of the frame and that metal piece came off. Warranty was just over and I was quoted over a hundred to fix that.

I personally expected much better after sales from oakleys for their prescription glasses considering that I didn't mishandle this particular pair. I don't really see how it could have not been a user fault, needless to say, I'm not particularly pleased with them.

So now I'm in the market for a sturdy pair of glasses. Can anyone recommend me a particular brand/place?

Hi,

Anyone heard of the jap brand "Maji Masatomo"? I entered a optician shop today and was attacted to one particular model... Just wondering whether it's generally a good brand...

Was quoted $480 for the frame as well as Crizal Airwave ($120)... Good price u think?

Brand: Maji Masatomo
Model: mj1-908

P.S: Sorry I cant post pictures/links due to lack of posts... :p

Just to share my opinion: Put on the frame and see if it fits well and ask about the weight if the lens are fixed to the frame. And, more importantly, do you look good and feel comfortable. Go ahead if you think the money is well spent.

Cheers.

Thanks KC...

Actualli I gotta admit that I realli like the look and feel of it...

Apparently Ma-ji Masatomo is quite a popular brand (although noob me first time hear this brand plus zero search in this forum..)

So hopefully the price is at least reasonable for wat was quoted to me... :)

Spectacle Hut now got 20% + 20% on designer frames so I decided to splash on a Emporio Armani half frame with silver sides. The frame itself after discount is around $200.

On top of that I got a Sola Teflon Coated 1.6 Transition at $260. Crizal is too steep much more than $260! Did I make the right choice with Sola and is that the right price? $260 to me seems rather steep still! And is this the "Transitions" brand? I am confused.

Just went to aldric's shop to make a pair of ic! berlin specs. Chose the black Serge K. in the end. Thumbs up for aldric good service even though i tried almost every pair hes carrying before deciding back on Serge K. His price is also super reasonable. The lens is also very good ! Crizal Advanced Airwear 1.6.

Those that want to make ic berlin! look no further. Just go to aldric shop to try. And no, I am not affiliated with him in anyway. Just a happy customer.

PS: bro aldric, nice watch !
