can still see & still good, y need to change?

change doesnt mean will be better. Old lens quality maybe even better than new.

Coating doesn't last more than 3 years for some brands.

I would like to have a change of spectacles but don't wish to waste money since my current tag huer is still in good shape.

Hi,

Is it necessary to get airwear or hardened plastics lens for rimless frame?
Or save $$$ to get better quality lens?

Please advise.

Hi, am thinking of making new specs as current one very badly scratched by now. My prescription is:
Right: -8, -3, x20
Left: -5.5, -3.25, x170

Not particular about frame brand as long as simple, light, durable & corrosion resistant. As for lenses, main thing is hi-index, good scratch resistance, UV protection, don't need transition. Been reading till blur about various brands of lens & their coatings, too much info overload! Any recommendations from u experts on which hi-index to go for, and what kind of lens coatings? Any limitations due to my high degree & high astig?

Any estimated price for specs suitable for me? Probably something up to mid-range, nothing too ex. Thanks a lot for your kind advice, appreciate it.

Hi guys,

I took my Oliver Peoples Riley frame to FJ Isaacs at Clifford Centre and was quoted $410 for Swisscoat (not sure if i got the correct name) 1.6 index lenses with Transitions.

My right eye is about 200+, left eye 100 with some long sightedness. some astigmatism in both eyes also.

Is the price right? Anyone has experience dealing with them?

Thanks.

Other than the Prada which I got,

I saw something unique today,

Does Gucci (Japan) makes Titanium spec frames?

I thought it suppose to be made in Italy only?

orh cos u never said tat yur spec is tagheuer.. then no need to change frame la, tag seldom have new models & no point for u to change most other brands r not as comfy. If coating spoiled, then better change to a good one can last longer.

Actually they do, tempted by a few of them already. :s22:

So what is considered good coating? I only know hoya and Carl Zeiss. Understand that the former is quite expensive though.

Forget about essilor, all marketing nia.

New Spectacles bought

Hi! I have just received my new specs with the following specs.

Old:
R- 750-150 X 172
L- 800-125 X 170

New: HOYA Nulux 1.67
R- 725-175 X 175
L- 775-150 X 170

PD 62

May I ask whether the lens is HOYA HVP coating?
I found a strange thing with my new specs. When I cover my left eye and see far, the image is very blur. Unlike my old specs where the left eye and right eye are both clear. Is the new specs ok?

Thanks for your help in advance! :D

Not really. depends on your handelling.

Polycarbonate material generally have very bad clarity(abbe value).

among the impact resistant lenses, Hoya Pheonix stands out with higher clarity and better coating.

Other than that, u can choose 1.6 or 1.67 lenses as they have higher tensile strength for rimless.

200+ ??

+2.00 ? (long sighted)

-2.00~ (short sighted)

-200 ; ADD +200 (Reading problem/ Presbyopia)

If what u getting is a normal single vision, price dont seem too crazy. If they are saying its a progressive..... i'd be careful if i were u.
