 let me know whether vision clear or not when you collect from them? You made 2050?
Yes, 2050 Grey with Hoya SFT 1.67 Transitions.....
Can imagine i am pretty broke now...
BTW: anybody have any lens cleaning cloth to recommend? Was trying to find hoya lens cloth locally, but majority of the shops don't sell.
I have something like this
http://www.lelong.com.my/hoya-100-mircofiber-lens-cleaning-cloth-tian-I936985-2007-01-Sale-I.htm
that i really like, can't remember where and how i got it though. :(

I don't really like the microfiber bag that comes with oakley/crizel though.

yup, i got mine hoya microfiber cloth free when i bought one pair in malaysia. Really quite a big piece of cleaning cloth! Much bigger than normal.
In sg sadly they dont have, wonders why.
Pretty broke? Guess you have quite a number of commitments. :s22:
Anyway, your pair of DUN pair should be able to last you many years, so no worries if you want a lasting one & their frames are quite classic, shouldnt worry abt getting out of style.

I would recommend Essilor MX100 for cleaning. Most shop selling at $4 for a small piece. Really nice microfiber i feel.

One of the shops in Queensway carry them, it is a very nicely furnished corner shop with a partition that makes it look like 2 shop space. The sales there were very friendly, one very funky looking too but very friendly.

The retail shop is Optometrist @ Work

Very nice and friendly sales staff in there.

Got my Oliver Peoples Townsend frame and lens (Progressive with transition) from there.

The moment I saw the Townsend model, I felt in love with it.

All in $1200.

They have limited stock of Oliver Peoples frame.

Happy shopping.

Haha..Not really, but it would be my first time making a pair of 1k+ specs. Usually the specs i made is about 500-700, and i will change my specs in 1-1/2 years time.

On the hindsight , I didn't bargain with them this time for better price, as its the first time i make specs with them. If i am a returning customer, i will definitely to ask for better price next time round. ^^

If change spec in 1-1.5yrs time then really quite not so worthwhile to get 1k+ specs? But i think vision wise their lens should be ok, just that cant expect too good craftsmanship from the lab nowadays. Usually mine will have some imperfections on the lens polishing etc. I am still hesitating whether to get LC or not. On one hand, its a limited edition, may not have stocks in future when i want it again. On the other hand, im quite broke. :(

Seannie, get the frame first, fit the lens later!

hmm... in that case, i would like to seek your experience. If i fit in the lenses & left the whole spec inside the box without wearing them, will the lenses turn yellowish after like say a year? Becos right now, i cant be decided on whether to hoot or not, and even if i do it will just be an extra pair most likely i will keep till either my current pair wears out or have gotten sick of it. If lenses will turn yellow by itself, then i dont see the rationale of fitting in the lenses first. The frame actually cost 3 times the average, not sure if the cost is justifiable or not. Im still trying to get accustomed to the current pair, just hope that everything goes out well. Thanks.

Hehe.... don't fit the lens yet. Maybe there is new coating/technology/transitions down the road that you are tempted to get next time...

Also you might not lose that much if you decide to sell (to me maybe??) that frame down the road... :p

what im getting is already the premium coating, therefore new coating technology down the road will definitely cost more at that time of introduction, and existing coating/technology will go down in price, ultimately i will still be getting my current type of lens. And nowadays lab work is so shoddy that even if the frame & lens are of high grade, the handling & fitting & workmanship skills you get from the lab are not, so i wouldnt want to spend so much on lens. After wearing my current DUN spec for almost 4 months, i happened to scrutinise at the lens polishing & fitting work and was again disappointed. Polish marks all over the sides. My friend working in a lens lab told me that when there are too many orders too busy he will anyhow whack the lens. Btw their salaries are very low, and seldom has much increments or bonuses, if any. So, why would the lab people bother? Even if you can trust the optical shops, you cant trust the labs. :(

Thats why im not really tempted to buy specs nowadays. Maybe LC will be my last pair for some time to come. Until unless i see someting that i really likes in the future.

Seannie bro, if you really feel for the frame, just buy the frame and keep, don't prescribe the lens now.
When you're ready to buy lenses, then bring the frame to the shop to prescribe the lens.

FYI, i have on hand 7 blank frames that i keep in my collection. :D

I agree with your observations, however, as you have already said, cost of your current coating/lens will come down in price in the future, so why make your lens now if you have no intention of using it?

Not to mention if you will experience any more degree/astigmatism changes, in my case, last week when i went to spectacle culture to make my specs, they found out that my astigmatism have slight change in axis as compared to my current specs.

I will stand by atypical advice of not making your lens now if you have no plans on using it.
