Seannie bro, if you really feel for the frame, just buy the frame and keep, don't prescribe the lens now.
When you're ready to buy lenses, then bring the frame to the shop to prescribe the lens.

FYI, i have on hand 7 blank frames that i keep in my collection. :D

i think you are a rich guy... with 7 frames on standby mode. :D
im just middle-income lei, dont think i can keep doing that, need to think before i act haha

Not to mention if you will experience any more degree/astigmatism changes, in my case, last week when i went to spectacle culture to make my specs, they found out that my astigmatism have slight change in axis as compared to my current specs.

looks like your new specs going to be clearer than your current pair. How?

Unless you happen to find some rare frames or cheap frames, buying just the frame only not very sensible as the spectacle shop always charge extra for making the lenses when you bring your own frame. When you buy all together from the same shop, they waive the edging fees and also give you a better bundle discount.

It's true that when you prescribe both the lens and frame from the same shop at the same time, it will be cheaper. However, very frequently, I find myself not finding the frame I like at the shops I go too. So, I find my own frame, and ask them to prescribe my lenses.

Like that no discount, BUT wearing a frame I like and fit me, everyday, for many years to come, out-weighs the discount.

boh lah! I also don't earn much, just that the uncles who makes the frames I like, and fit me are very old liao. If they retire, or kong kiang, the frames will :
(a) no longer be available,
(b) will be more expensive, if available
(c) if reproduce by other hands, will never be the same again.

So, I take it like buying a piece of art/history/skill.

Machine can mould/wield frames of superb quality, but frames made by hands also tells a story .....

Sometimes when you do find a nice pair of frame in the shop and the shop agrees a good discount, u buy as a set but ask them to fit the lens into a pair from your own collection.

I don't see that as a problem, as long as there are "improvement" to my vision with the new specs, i am happy :D

hmm i had a problem becos i dislike wearing my old pair even though there's nothing wrong with it, but i had a preference for the clearer pair, so the old pair becomes wasted, becomes more like a spare or for sports usage. Anyway, your new spec should be coming very soon..

First in sg to hoot a MTO LC002!! My order just arrived & i had taken a view before sending it to lab. Just pure Luxury... Total Damage $1,800

Any pictures?

Can do me a favor, when you collect your specs, can give me the measurements of the specs?
I wonder if it is wider/narrower compared to the model i am getting.

I actually called earlier today to check if it is ready, adelynn told me to wait for her call, potentially tomorrow ^^

you can actually see the measurements of the frames from the website. Its 55/14/140 lens height 31mm. Your spec is 54/17/140 lens height 30.5mm. So both models are quite close in size. No worries at all abt fitting. If you can fit 2050 then definitely can fit LC002. Anyway measurements on the spec are just a guide. You cant totally rely on the figures. Even frames with the same width may have different angles of curvatures on the temples. So overall fit may feel different for different frames.

The lens distance of 14 versus 17 seems a tad much. In plastic frame context, that will makea lot of difference to the sizing and fitting. Metal frame wise, hmmmm .... Maybe ok ....

hi guys, i am wearing swissflex... and an unknown lens...

now this lens lots of scratches, me thinking of making a new better one... but retain my swissflex frame (like the design and weight!)

i am looking at the below brands:

crizal
zeiss
nikon

among the 3 brand... zeiss most ex for me... crizal looks good and dunno about nikon....

my astig quite high... 200-225 like that and degree 700+/800+ for each eye...

hoping to look for a lens that is scratch resistant (i think scratch proof not possible right), fingerprints free, water repellent (not a must)... i think crizal has this?

Any reason why you are not considering Hoya SFT range?

i think mine is hoya one currently.
Initial impression of my hoya sft lens is good :)
Seems a tad clearer to my previous specs, brighter (cos newer?) also.

Dust don't seem to stick onto the lens as much as my old CZ lens. Easier to wipe off water /oil too.

I am looking to get a pair of sunglasses with prescription lens. Any recommendation? Not really looking at transition lens..

Thanks in advance.

Actually it all depends on the frame you are looking at... ?

If it is a thick plastic frame, i may just consider getting a normal prescriptive lens and tint it.
