This is a script for backtesting, forecasting, and conducting what-if analysis of CPF account balances of Singaporean private sector employees and public sector non-pensionable employees from 1 Jul 1955 through 31 Dec 2055. Please visit

for download link and full details. I would also prefer that replies be posted there as the platform is better at keeping track of conversations.

The script uses actual CPF historical data and simulates major CPF changes through the years. All calculations are exact and should be accurate down to the cent. The only estimates involved are the future FRS / MS, ERS, and BHS / MCC values. Beyond 2016, contribution rates, allocation rates, and interest rates are assumed to be the same as those of 2016. The script also calculates the effective interest rates of your OA, SA, MA, RA, and your entire CPF savings as a whole. I hope the simulator can answer the following questions for you:

  • Has my employer been making the correct amount of contributions to my CPF?
  • How much must I earn / top-up / voluntarily contribute, and for how long, before I reach my Minimum Sum / FRS / ERS?
  • How much must I earn / voluntarily contribute, and for how long, before I reach the BHS / MCC?
  • How much extra interest will I earn if I were to transfer $X from my OA to my SA (for age < 55), or from my OA / SA to my RA (for age >= 55), in year XXXX as opposed to YYYY?
  • How long can my MA balance last with the annual deduction of Medisave premiums that increases over time?
  • How much must I repay CPF if I profited form selling my house that was bought using CPF?
  • How does CPF's performance compare against inflation and other investment instruments?

I am in no way affiliated with CPF and this script is not endorsed by CPF. Everything is based on my own research and are not guaranteed to be correct. Use at your own risk. Do report bugs and inaccuracies so that I can correct them.

I whipped up one in Excel and shared it somewhere here before. Due to the increased effort, I didn't bother to do an accurate calculation of the interest, but the rough figures should be largely accurate.
